Title: Theft at the SVR Gala
Post by: NeMo on May 22, 2016, 01:02:07 PM
This was posted a few minutes ago on the 'Warship' Facebook group...

"Whilst my previous post regarding the SVR Gala was upbeat I have since been informed of a serious criminal act carried out by some selfish lowlife that with have extremely serious consequences if not corrected. We have all admired the brand spanking new class 68 from DRS a company that are there to make money but are extremely enthusiast friendly. They sent two of their locos (which could have been earning revenue) and crews to support our event. It sickens and enrages me when some little :censored: takes it upon thereselves to unbolt and steal the Makers Plate off the loco while it was stabled overnight in Rock Sidings, Bewdley on Friday night. The implications of this are imense for the enthusiast movement as the company would be quite justified in pulling the plug. It MUST be returned ASAP. Someone out there either has it or knows someone who has it. Let's face it you can't do anything with it. If not returned (I suggest it is posted anonymously to the SVR) then the authorities will be involved. Over to you folks it's time to pull together and get this sorted NOW."

Very sad how someone can consider themselves a "rail enthusiast" yet do this kind of selfish act that ruins the hobby for others.

Cheers, NeMo

It is such a shame that this kind of thing happens.
Thanks for posting about it. I do hope whoever took it has the decency to return it. I doubt it very much though.

obviously a spur of the moment thing, after all, we all walk round with a selection of spanners in our pockets, don't we  :hmmm:

as it's a family site, I won't suggest what I'd do to the  :censored: but I will say it would involve a product of messers black and decker, and a lower body joint  :smiley-laughing:

not much chance, I'd expect, of plod catching them.

That's a real shame. Chances of it being returned by the culprit are probably slim to none.  Chances of the culprit getting caught are probably way higher. People (especially not so bright people) cannot keep their mouth shut and at some point hopefully he/she will brag about it. That's when the culprit may be known, however the police will have little chance of prosecution because they will have to find the plate in his or her possession. Besides, a stolen locomotive builders plate will not be high on their priority list.

I hate when people cannot keep their sticky fingers off other peoples things.
