Nice new issue dropped through today. Good spread of articles and reviews, but two loose pages. Is mine an odd one out are are more like that? (I've worked out a solution to that involving a needle and my cutting board).
Mine came like that aswell.
Ah well, seems 'we are not alone'!
Mine too, pages 23-26 and 75-78 are a couple of floating sheets.
Slightly off topic but as I'm new to N Gauge and looking to expand my knowledge of the subject, I decided to join the NGS today. Looking forward to receiving a copy of the journal soon!
My copy is stapled alright.
I particularly like that little Rosneath railway.

You won't regret it. I only joined last year and must say have been very impressed with the journals.
BTW my copy received this week is also stapled together properly.
Add me - pages 15/16-85/86 and 17/18-83/84 ...
Will drop them a line - hopefully they're already aware that this issue has 'issues' ;D but it never hurts to let them know !
Mike
Yes, mine also was like this.
But not a big deal. And I thought that the quality of the content in this particular Journal is notably better than previous ones.
Cheers,
Alan
Mine was fine, although I feel like checking it again. :) I agree Dr Al, it was a quality packed issue.
My copy was fine :)
Great to see Elvinley featured within - have seen numerous Youtube vids of this layout and I love it, well deserved of some proper publicity I think
Paul
mine didn't arrive yet :(
i just bought modern locomotives illustrated about the peaks so that'll keep me occupied anyway...

Good to see Elvinley again (i've played trains on it ! ;D) ,The journal has loads of content - it seems to get a bit bigger each time ! Good article on small tenders - the last pic could easily be 00 gauge !
"If it's got rails... you have my full, undivided attention - Steam, diesel and electric, 'tis all good !"
Umm.. shower rails 8)
exit stage left...
I like showers.... not the met office type though..... ;D

I got 31-34/67-70 loose on mine.
Screw loose, yes.... but no pages loose :-[
Another suffering with loose pages; 23-26, 75-78 for me. It doesn't look like stapling was even attempted, although the page finish is of the usual high quality. I noticed the outer packaging was a bit rougher this time than previously though.
Still waiting :'( next post not til next Tuesday :( , mind you picked up Feb's Model Rail today looking forward to good read after work tomorrow.

If you have the former, then maybe you haven't noticed the latter ;)
Received mine today - all intact, happily.

Ditto (but yesterday). Packaging has changed though I notice.
Excellent issue, the 'turning a terrier into a tender drive unit' article is priceless alone.
Got mine today - havn't put it down since.
Very good read
Bill
Mine just arrived. No time to open it just yet.
Another with loose pages, will try my bookbinding skills!
I've informed the NGS Membership Secretary, but it might be an idea if you emailed as well.

Hello all!
Apologies for the problem with the latest journal!
It would appear that a handful of rogue copies were not removed from the process as they should have been, and a few members have been unlucky - some have just had three or four pages loose, while others have had several pages missing!
I have already sent replacements out to members who have requested them. If you have a duff copy and would like a replacement, email me via the contact address on the Society website.
Happy modelling, and happy new year!

NGS Membership Secretary
Thanks Mike, and all best wishes for 2012 to you as well.
Excellent journal
"Got mine today - havn't put it down since." Was your copy the one they used glue to fix the loose pages in with?
Got my copy and all in one piece. Another very good issue by the looks of it which I will enjoy as bed time reading!
Got mine too, yesterday, no loose pages.
As always a quality production and a credit to all involved.
My only slight gripe which has been growing over recent times is why in almost every issue there seems to be yet another 6 to 8 page blow-by-blow illustrated article on "how to DCC a....(Fill in the blank)". It is becoming a tad repetitive and to one who has absolutely no interest in DCC adds up to a lot of unread pages..

Roger that. There is rather a lot of DCC stuff - hopefully it will tail off a bit as DCC gets established!
Didn't they do a survey a few months back when the membership said they wanted more DCC articles? I guess by the very fact of being on a forum those here are more technophile than the average N-gauger!

Yep, gotta agree there. They all (every conversion) seems to be extremely samey. And the photos always look so dark in those articles. But to be fair many of the commercial mags also resort to those sort of articles, although Nigel Birkin does do it very well in BRM.

hi all
while i do agree there have been numerous "DCC conversion" articles i don't view them as a negative point
i only have a passing interest in DCC as i decided to stay with DC for now at least :-\
but i always read the articles an find the "before" pictures very informative if only to show where any connections should be in case
any come loose on any of my loco's
so to that end all i will say to the NGS is keep up the good work on a very informative and interesting mag
happy new year
dave
