Title: Anyone work for Autoglass or similar
Post by: Oldman on May 13, 2016, 09:10:55 PM
Are you proficient at windscreen chip repairs, because there may be a good job if you can pull it off.

And we thought stone chips were bad enough come MOT time.

I wonder what their excess is on windscreen repairs ?
a bit more than the £10 on my policy, I'd guess  :smiley-laughing:

Sounds like quite a big impact in space terms.

To put this into context, one of the shuttles once hit a fleck of paint. The resulting penetration into the "windscreen" was a write-off and brought the shuttle back to earth early.

The physics at work here are mind-boggling. It's the speeds; that fleck of paint weight was insignificant, but because it was in orbit and therefore doing in excess of 17,000mph, it's kinetic energy is massive.

Yeah, it's really a case of the "Right Stuff" for those space folk!

Silly scientists
All these windows and no need for them
Stick cameras on the outside, job done

Going slightly off my original topic- don't you occasionally like to sit at a window and watch the world go by -but in their case literally

This was foretold a month or so ago when there was a
tv prog about space junk, millions of bits and pieces
orbiting the earth. Beam me down Scotty !

There is very little risk here on Earth

Hurtling along at speed is vastly more risky
I would rather be protected and watching a TV screen

Plenty of glass up on the ISS - the cupola alone has 7 windows!

Love the way that an increase in tech gets a "job done".i.e. windows to cameras. Yet I bet the same response has been made in reverse. "stupid scientists, using a camera when a window would do!".
If I were up there I would want the the panoramic and not the pessimistic view.
