Title: GF Cumbrian Mountain Express Pack queries
Post by: dannyboy on May 09, 2016, 04:25:05 PM
I have decided to add the above pack to my birthday 'wish list' ( :claphappy: ), mainly to get the 'Duchess Of Hamilton' engine and from what I have seen, the engine alone is selling for a similar price to the complete pack  ???. However, my queries - the engine is advertise as 'DCC Ready', is it available as 'DCC Fitted'? Secondly, so I can work out the best postage options for me, can anyone tell me the box sizes please, (l x w x h).  :thankyousign:

Box size is about 19"x13"x3"
I don't believe its available as a set with DCC fitted.
It is indeed good value as you suggest. Unfortunately mine came with a loco that looked like it was running on square wheels so the loco went back for replacement. Should be due soon.
:beers:

I'm sure Hattons will chip a loco for you, I've always found them very helpful. I just hope they check the loco works properly on DC first.
Good luck, it's a nice set. :beers:

I haven't fitted a chip in mine yet, but from what I recall, it couldn't be easier...no screws to undo, just lift the top off the tender, remove the blanking chip and slide the decoder chip in its place.
No square wheels on mine, I'm glad to say - it ran like a dream straight from the box !

When I bought my City of Birmingham, when it first came out, it ran like a dream. So smooth and quiet. I was expecting the same of the Duchess. So disappointed. Still, I have high hopes of her replacement.
:beers:

I've had a good response by emailing Bachmann/Grafar. If they have it kicking about they are usually quite happy to post it to you.

John, as I understand it, it is just a train pack, i.e. engine, 3 carriages and signal box.

I'm sure Hattons will chip a loco for you,

Hattons charge £15.26p for the chip and £12.00p for fitting if anyone is interested.  :beers:
