Title: New Peco Turntable Motor
Post by: PaulinSouthMidlands on April 30, 2016, 04:16:43 PM
Peco are bringing out a new Peco Lectrics product later this year namely PL-55 motor for turntable.

Various shop websites are reporting that it is suitable for their turntables in all scales, providing that the new type turntable well with mounting lugs is used.

However the Peco publicity I found only refers to the OO gauge turntable.

Does anyone know if it will be N turntable compatible?

A search on Peco turntable in All Forums of NGF reveals a number of comments on improving it or using alternative motors .

The use of brass rollers for the rail section seems to be the best bet.

I did not ask about and have no interest in modifying a Peco Turntable and am well aware of numerous threads on the subject.

You see I did TRY SEARCHING

I asked whether the new *Peco* motor for the *Peco* Turntable that comes out later this year can be used on the Peco N gauge turntable as well as the OO gauge one because there is conflicting information on different websites.

Note to mods...
That "tried searching" icon thing has inherant antagonistic undertones and I think it would be good to delete it from the icon menu  :thankyousign:

I think Osbornes are listing it on their website as working on all Sizes of Peco turntable.

From the looks of it, it's essentially a stepper motor like those used in Arduino projects for turntable control but if they've done it so it's easy to install and use it could be rather handy.

Does anyone know of any update on this motor? Peco just have it as 2016 release on their website.  Cheers

On the Peco website under 'Contact Us' there's an e mail address.
Probably best drop them a line

So, a very helpful lady on the other end of the phone found out for me... there are some unresolved issues so it's been delayed. Oh well.

Perhaps they should start selling the MERG turntable kit, that works well on their N & 00 turntables.

It does get a mention at the bottom of page 14 in the 3/2019 NGSJ.
