Where do I start??  ;D

An "I Like Trains" T-shirt (anyone who's seen the Youtube animation will know what I mean), a Deltic T-shirt, a handful of PGA hoppers to join the rest, Metcalfe houses kits, Heavy Trucks DVD, RM Annual CD-Rom 2010, a big model truck, a model Sierra, a lovely framed picture of an XR4x4, and a very nice pair of A4 Mallard cufflinks  :)

The misses got a Boeing 707 DVD, an RS Cosworth jacket, a Story of the Escort Cosworth DVD and a VERY rare 1:24 scale Sapphire Cosworth model from Italy, among other things.

As usual a transport-obsessed christmas for both of us then!  :smiley-laughing:

I'm also cooking the dinner now so thought it best to post now cos I'll probably be too sozzled after  :P

Merry Christmas everybody!!  :beers:

I'm a massive Ford fan, and dream of one day owning a RS500.... ;D

RS500 . . . you'll need a 'spare' £20k+ for even a decent one, and a mate of ours has a mint 10,000-miler that's been professionally valued at £45k!!  :o  Silly prices for a Ford Sierra, but rarity value is the price-driver. Even our Saph Cossie is going up in value now good ones are starting to get a bit scarce  :)

Nothing model related as my wife is aware that it would be too easy to get the wrong colour/class/livery so she leaves me to buying my own trains.

I got a watch. I'm currently driving her nuts by keeping saying "Oooh would you look at the time".

I also got a couple of Boston Celtics t-shirts and an Angry Bird plush toy to complete my collection.

It would seem I have been a very good boy this year.

Well the highlights for me were a Morley Vesta twin track controller, and the money to buy a Dapol A3 when they are released, plus a super funky Tassimo coffee maker ;D

Also a bonus has been having the time to crack on and finish an old resin (Can't remember the make) Peppercorn A2 kit. Looking pretty reasonable if I say so myself. All done now - just waiting for the nameplates from Model master - 60532 "Blue Peter"....

Hi Mark, found a great solution this morning, I will take it back to BigW and exchange it for a different MP3 Player, I exhausted every avenue trying to get this iPod to sync and work with a Linux OS, Apple does not support Linux and I have a feeling it almost kills them to make their iPods compatible with Windows, my first and very last brush with an Apple product (http://www.kolobok.us/smiles/personal/diablo.gif)

boxes that have arrived for them over the last month or two!!!!!

Regards

Neal.

Santa brought me a digital commuter set

Snap!  And from the rest of the family, some donations to the "buy more trains to go with it" fund, on the grounds that I don't know 'til I start setting it up and playing exactly what it is I want.

First N-gauge train I've actually held in my grubby little hands since I was a small boy, I'm so impressed with all the tiny details.  I'm not enough of a train buff to know if they're "right", but they're certainly intricate and well-done.

Baseboard building starts tomorrow.  Maybe I can run it in on the table while I work :)

Also, CDs, and chocolate (plain and goat's milk - I don't get on well with lactose, so the latter is a nice surprise!)

My elderly mother has actually offered to pay for me to have a new layout built!!!!!!! She said she is fed up coming round and only seeing a baseboard with a few bits of track and little progress. I don't think she realises how expensive this will be (he-he), but I better get organised while she is still around to pay for it. Now to get some good track plan books - any suggestions?

I swear that not one of my family have ever noticed the (literally) hundreds of model railway stock and trackwork, 150 railway related books and a monthly haul of magazines that makes my local newsagent 'tres' happy. I say this 'cos NOT ONCE in 10 years have they presented me with a railway related gift. That status quo remains in situ today!

Not to worry. They equally haven't spotted arriving in the past three weeks a two car class 108, a three car class 108, a two car class 101, a class 121 and a class 03. My grateful seasonal thanks to me. And the wonderful postman who only delivers parcels addressed to me if my car is in the drive and SWMBOs isn't!

You know what, that pretty much the same in my house with my family!!!!

My Mother-in-Law always asks me what I want for Birthday/Xmas and when I say Model Railway stuff, she replies "Oh I'm not buying you any Train stuff!!!", So why ask me then !!!!!!!!  ??? ???

SWMBO is gradually getting there, she does now at least give me money to put towards my train stuff, and the grown up kids are great as well, I send them a list of links for stuff at Hattons or Rails and they choose from the list (I've trained them well  ;D ;D ;D )

Regards

Neal.

Nothing. I'm busy packing everything up ready for the big move back to UK next year so didn't want any more to pack. There's nothing available here in China anyway.

Don't worry. I'm sure I'll make up for it once I get back to UK. ;D

Good luck with the packing Trevor, a big move but one you will no doubt be happy to make

What a superb arrangement with the postman you have Griffo. I get tired of getting cards from the Royal Mail saying I have to collect so I just get stuff delivered to my work address.

Because the Wife and I have been full of cold germs the past few days we missed out on the big Christmas dinner at our Sons where all the presents get handed out.

A special delivery from my Stepdaughter today surprised me with a railway kind of present, a book called "The Historical Atlas of World Railways", great reading for someone like me that loves all railways the world over.

Apart from the typical Christmas presents (calenders, socks - although I did need some new ones!  ) I got the handbook to British Heritage railways, which should keep me busy for visits for ages, and the Railworks Train Simulator 2012, which will keep me quiet at home for ages!

Finally online, sounds like everyone had a great Xmas.  For my part my wonderful wife listens to me talking in my sleep for presents (apparently i talk about trains).  Apparently I was talking about trams as she got me a kato Duwag Tram advertising Dom Kolsch from Cologne.   Singularly appropriate as that's where we spent last christmas and I did enjoy the Kolsch :)

That was the only rail related thing but also got a few novels, a few steam punk jewelry books (a somewhat self serving pressie on behalf of the missus ;) and from my best mate a stunning book, Hardware : the definitive sf works of Chris Foss.

Now I have to get in the garage and finally make decision regarding my track plan, I'm getting sick of not running trains!

I hope you all enjoyed christmas, I certainly did. My railway related prezzies

2 framed photos taken by my nephew on the Swanage railway, the spam can "Tangmere" is hauling the first train to run from London in June 2009 and rebuilt West Country "Eddystone" on the "Wessex Belle" in December the same year. Excellent book from the wife on Swanage (on which I have loosely based my layout, I wanted an authentic track plan) and in use for the first time a steamer mug from my niece, I'm not left handed but that's the side with the SCHOOLS on. The Scalescenes printout is the one HID thinks I'm getting on with instead of being on here!

Oh and New Years wish, a Postie like Griffo49's!

Hi all, looks like you all have had a great time and recieved some nice presents from family members. My wife treated me to a Class 220 001 Maiden Voyager Virgin Trains four car unit, I also got a nice Shell Tanker already weathered, looks good. I treated myself to an X Type Jaguar, having been loyal to Ford for the last 30 odd years my Fusion's cambelt let go the other day and with 100000 on the clock I dont think its viable to repair, it will be going on fleabay soon. Ford dont have anything that grabs me at the moment so this was the next best as it is Mondeo based with a posh badge. I still have plenty of train time left before life goes back to normal next week so the new train wil be run in by then,
Anyway I wish you all a happy new year and good luck with the raffle!!!

Dave
