not sure if its been discussed or not but its some help i need with my layout...
in my fiddle yard i have 2 3 way points, 1 at each end (obviously), but all my points are insulfrog, and as you may know the 3 ways are electrofrog.
what i need to know is, do i require insulated fishplates at the exit of each road? and if so do they require a bond across from the exit onto the track they feed?
my dad leads me to believe the electricity will only flow which every way the points are set so the other 2 roads wont be affected even if i use regular fishplates :/
if you dont use insulated fishplates and inadvertently set the points against each other you will get a short.
its really not much work even if you add the wiring. polarity switching can be done with a micro switch on the tie bar
My own solution would be to have insulated joiners on the 3 tracks from just one of the 3 way points and have a feed to the toe end of both points. Would that not do the job?
no idea lol, makes sense but if it works or not is another question, i imagine not that many people have the 3 ways yet :/
In a way, having no trains moving when both points are NOT set correctly is a kind of fail-safe, showing your road is not set correctly.
