Title: Disappointment
Post by: ScottyStitch on March 01, 2016, 10:10:21 AM

It seems I have limped over the 1000 posts mark without noticing.

But why didn't the forum-auto-response alert me? There was no fanfare. No ticker tape. No slaps on the back nor pints thrust in my hand. There was no celebratory/congratulatory Del Prado static model posted out to sit on my mantlepiece to remind me of this dubiously proud moment. There wasno mantlepiece sent out to enable me to pose said Del Prado static model.

What do you mean the forum mechanism doesn't have that facility?! I shall have to get some cardboard out and write @Tank (http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=profile;u=2) a stiff letter!

Yours,

Appalled, Aberdeenshire.

On a positive note, it looks like my long term living arrangements have taken a turn for the better and I may in fact be moving into somewhere with a slightly bigger garage than the one I have here. Upshot is that Perth Station is now back on. With extra bells and whistles. Let the (re)planning begin! Huzzah!

Pfft, for a piddling 1,000 posts you should be thankful for the little baggie of vintage Farish split gears now on their way to you.

:P

We were all at the bottom once, squiddy, so hold that tongue of yours, Sir!

Having said that, the bag of split gears would be a damn sight more useful than a Del Prado.......

Unscrewed from its chassis and turned upside down, the Del Prado body makes a handy container for the split gears (and the 1500th post ceremonial Lima pizza cutter wheels).

Well, congratulations from me and thank you for contributing so much to the forum! :) I too have been watching my number of posts work its way steadily upwards and I have to admit that I have fantasized about reaching 1000 posts (should happen early in April for me ;) ).

I don't have any split gears or DelPrado bodies to send you, so you'll have to make do with my thanks and this lovely NGF train:

:thankyousign:

I think you will find Bachmann already reward long-term modellers with split gears included randomly in all powered releases.  :P

Whilst my contributions here are intermittent and basic, I have amassed over 25,000 posts on a cycling forum I spend too much time on. Ergo, I will look down my nose at all of you!   :P

Yeah, despite being less than 2 years into this I already have a sick class 46 :(. And a couple of other models bought 2nd hand (albeit at reduced prices) due to the same issue. If it's any consolation I also have a German Brawa DMU suffering from the same problem.

Luxury! I bought two 44s from Hattons and both had split gears out of the box.

Mind you we used to dream of being able to afford our own split gears. Our dad, he'd make us scratchbuild our own locos from lumps of coal and whatever the cat bought in. Still, we were happy.

I did wonder where all these came from :)

Ee, you were lucky you had coal. We used to have to fit wheels and bits of old pocket watches to mums discarded egg cartons and try an balance them precariously on tracks made of spent matches. That were real modelling.

Is there a record and reward for nesting the most posts?
One way of getting your numbers up.

Definitely true. '
If you were unfortunate enough to buy your children the early learning aid called 'Speak and Spell' to help them improve their spelling, when I heard the dam thing speak "Spell Colour" and you entered - Colour.
It replied 'That is incorrect the word colour is spelt color" Grrrrrrr. Shouted and screamed at it but the daft machine never learned how to spell colour correctly
