Just to show not everything goes how you want it too, I was hoping to upload my latest sound install this weekend but after initial testing managed to blow the decoder by doing something stupid. :( :veryangry:
After much effort I managed to work out how to get sound into the latest incarnation of the Farish Jinty using one of the CT SL76 sound decoders, one of the tightest fits so far but it does go, but only just. Requires quite a bit of modification to the body of the loco to make room for the sound decoder and you can fit a cut down Zimo micro cube speaker in the cab.
That's where I went wrong, used a super cut down speaker at first and it was fine, ran round the layout like a dream and the dreaded crackles where hardly apparent as the Farish pickups seem to much more reliable that the Dapol pannier offerings, in fact once it had done a couple of circuits it ran really quiet crackle wise, much impressed. Thought I then try to fit a larger speaker and that's where it went wrong, must've shorted something out as I no longer have sound emanating from the loco, runs fine but no sound. :(
Now need to order another Zimo 648 for one of my Dapol Panniers to release a CT SL76 decoder to go into the Jinty so it will be a while before the video of the sound fitted Jinty appears on uTube so here's a couple of teaser photos of the install.

Hi Caz
Sorry to learn about your setback. I am very new to DCC sound and as such at this point in the hands of others to do the installs. I am always inspired by the way you manage to push the envelope and get sound in locos that some would say you couldn't even get a chip in!
I'm sure you will sort it and we'll shortly see a clip of the Jint running. Keep up the amazing work!
Roy
I'm sorry to hear that Caz. That seems like an excellent and exciting project though and I appreciate you sharing it with us. At least you got it working the first time so at least you know you can achieve good results! Very excited for another of your enchanting videos once it is all sorted.
Glad to see you are mobile enough again for train surgery. :)
Well above my skill level, so despite the setback, well done for doing it.
