I signed up in anticpation of getting hold of a Silver Link.  My fave loco in its best livery.  Can't wait.
I'm not exactly sure what other benefits there are, but that one is enough for me.
Not sure I've helped. ???

Suckers !  :smiley-laughing: :smiley-laughing: :smiley-laughing:

In all honesty you'll easily get your moneys worth, even without the A4 - Loads of NQP (not quite perfect) stuff you can buy cheap and the usual club type stuff - pen, cup, notepad etc... Also they do a members day at the factory.

I used to be a member purely so i could attend their open day to grab some Bargains. Sadly since moving to Sheffield it hasn't been feasible for  me to travel back for just a few hours so i haven't been a member for the past year.

But i'd say it's definitely worth it for the limited edition models, although having said that the Silver Link doesn't interest me as for some reason Dapol are NOT doing it with Valances.

What?  A grey A4 without valances?  OMG! :o   Are you sure?

Maybe I'll get the blue LNER one then... at least it will be right.  And then maybe I'll rename it Mallard. 8)

I'm pretty sure i saw it mentioned on Dapol's facebook page. Also all the pre-production shots don't show the valances.

Oh and i'd hold of on renumbering to Mallard, from what i've heard you won't be waiting long for one (You didn't hear this from me ;) )

oh that certainly sells it for me. hows it work do they just send you offers first come basis.

There may be other offers to come.  My reason for joining is the open day, cheap dead but fixable locos and discounted rolling stock. Not sure I would join if I could bot get to the open day, that said the Hall was a great offer, not got 26 or A4 but still very happy member. News letter due soon.

The special offers are announced in their newsletters, they are first come first serve but there is normally enough to go around.
The open day is also announced in the newsletter and if i remember correctly you 'book' a timeslot (3 in a day for a group of about 30) and you have around 2 hours to look around the factory, buy NQP models and find out any new products.

In my welcome pack I got a limited edition coal wagon, pin-badge, key ring, pen, calculator and notepad.

I can't get to the open days, so it's really just the specials I'm hoping for.

Pardon Ollie? Didn't hear what, sorry...? I'm a bit deaf so your secret's safe with me. :-X

I ordered some stuff from their "members' open day sale items" back in October/November but nothing ever turned up. I reminded them in December, one of the items was no longer available but still nothing has turned up.

Looked at the info on their website, but a bit put off that wagons listed are for 2007 issue - no mention of 2011 or 2012. Noted that the website last updated 2011, so would have thought putting up detail of current "sweetener" would have been useful. No mention of Silver Link either. Thought having some discount dealers was a good idea, but noted that even one of these closed down a couple of years ago. As I see some of you chaps have joined, do you have access to another part of the website, or is it all contained in the newsletters?
Not knocking the club, as interested in joining, but would like to clarify what I would be getting.

the offer that was woth mine was for a diesel and some wagons. Apparently the offer for the Silver link has been released. i suspect that the offer for the Silver Link will prob appear sometime between now and march.

Just to resurrect this thread a bit, I have today received my Dapol N'Thusiasts club newsletter (1st one as I joined at Warley.)

Dapol are announcing that the new A4 should be released at the Alexandra Palace show in March (but they do add that they have their fingers crossed for this!) and that it will be released first in BR green versions with early and late crests. The remaining A4 liveries and the A3 will appear over the weeks that follow the show.

With regards to the Silver Link, this is a limited edition for club members only of 200. It will be in LNER Silver Grey, but not with full valances.   They say that they haven't finished the valance version A4's yet (so there will be a valanced A4 coming later!) and say that they have a photo of 2509 in silver grey livery without valances.   Can anyone confirm this - the only pics I have of 2509 is with valances, and one says that it went to LNER blue in early 1939.

I am a big LNER fan and only joined the Dapol club so I could get a Silver Link A4!  All I need them to do now is to produce a few silver coaches to go with it!

Yeah same here last letter i had was about there open day. I emailed them in Jan they said it would be released early feb. I understand they are a small company and all that, but it doesnt do any harm to either email, put something on their website, or facebook to let us know we not been forgotten about.

will keep this thread update when offers come through if they ever change your mind. tbh the reason i have it because of their open day. as i go armed with cash as you get a far few quid of locos, wagons etc

Have been thinking about joining, not sure if it's worth it though. Should be able to get to open days though so will probably do it. The wagons always seem to be old school 7 plank etc and the actions of a fair few selling the A4's on ebay for £400 is a bit annoying too.

Besides, all I really want is an A4 in the NRM livery with Valences, they could even make it 'realistic' by only having it as a dummy and I'd still buy one.

i must admit they are usually slow, which tbh does not look good. think when i had to renew they never sent the renewal out until a month after it expired.

Slowness and near-total lack of communication were the main reasons I never bothered to renew ...

I totally agree. I understand that they dont have the resources that Bachmann do but its still not the point. All it would of took is a letter or email saying there is a delay, your important to us and all that rubbish.

I am curious what will happen to the name as Nthusiast (as in Nthusiast Resprays) was a Dave Jones thing and he has departed.
