Title: Time to get rid of some old "00" gauge rolling stock
Post by: Tdm on January 20, 2016, 04:22:27 PM
Pictured below is some old "00" gauge locos I used to run on a layout I had in North Wales some 12 years or more ago. The ones shown all did work, but haven't turned a wheel since Emigrating.

I would now like to get rid of them (with or without the cabinet they are currently housed in), where should I advertise them (bearing in mind they are currently in Tenerife). Don't want a lot for them as I don't know if they will still run or not as got rid of all my "00" track.

Would it worth while asking someone like "Hattons", or others who buy secondhand stuff and advertise in Model Rail, if they would be interested, or a private ad in one of the mags?

The engines are I think a mixture of Hornby and Lima Diesels (need to have a new look at them as I've forgotten).

Hello

Looking at your stock box, there are indeed some Lima present along with older Hornby.

I think selling to the trade as a "bundle" has an appeal but I suspect you may be disappointed by the price offered

An alternative might be to advertise them as a batch on ebay, making clear what you've said here about their history (and so avoiding the pests who send them back because they're not working!).  The price you get, even minus the hefty fees, ought to beat the traders (bearing in mind the nature of what you hope to dispose of).

Best regards

Adrian (in Llanelian, beyond the White Lion, which you might remember from earlier days!!)
