Title: The 19th January.
Post by: jonclox on January 18, 2016, 09:51:36 AM
I`m owed an M.O.T. by my GP but cant get an appointment until 1-2-16 so its on a backburner till then.
Main reason for this post tho is to wish all the best to Mick (NPN) and Malc all the best for the 19th.
Heres hoping we see them both back and well soon.

Still waiting today's call from the hospital to tell me whether the op is on/off.
I'm going through my last packet of fags as if there's no tomorrow.
:oopssign:
Perhaps not the best choice of phrases

Edit - the phone has just gone and I have to report tomorrow morning at 7am :dighole:

Mine is only a scan. Shirt off, KY jelly on, rub over with probe. Results and out. 15 mins is what they say, but I'll believe it when it happens. It is the Aorta scan they offer to all over 65 s. My birthday was on the 5th of this month, so they are quite efficient.

All the Best Mick, hope you come out the otherside running :)
I can picture it now ... ...

NPN bursts through the theatre doors, gown flying akimbo ... butcher surgeon in hot pursuit waving the carving knife scalpel, followed by the anaesthetist & the gas mask, half a dozen nurses making up the final trail ...  Queue "Yakety Sax"  :D

Had mine on the 12th, just took 10mins to get the all-clear thankfully. Only given to males who reach 65 because we are 6 times more likely to suffer issues. Nice it's just a once-only test if you are clear.

Never heard of that or been offered the check.
I`m five years overdue in that case but I think they prod and faf about with me enough as it is so I`ll give it a miss :-\

Had my initial scan November 2014 and they found an Abdominal Aortic Anuerysm (AAA) 5.2 cm. The lower limit for intervention is 5.5 so I have been going back for a check every 3 months. Had grown to 5.3 at last scan at beginning of December. I had no idea I even had one. Doc put me on daily dose of asprin to add to the other medication for high blood pressure and cholestrol.  As others have said just a quick 10 minutes with the gel application and scanner pressed onto your abdomen.

Had my scan. In and out in 8 mins. Given the all clear, so no further tests. If you haven't been offered a test and you are over 65, call 01214241200 or 01214243612 and they should be able to sort you out.

Respiratory MOT passed - Chronic COPD confirmed but stupidly blood /oxygen level was 99%.
Prescription collected and told book in with a doctor to sort out the other problems.
Big thumbs up to the nurse who actually knew what she was doing and understood my concerns

The results of such scans are directly related to the age of the nurse rubbing on the jelly!

Sincerely hope that everything is OK.

Peter.

Good news by the sound of things Oldman
I must say that I checked my SATS over the weekend and was surprised at how high it was (95%) but any 'activity' soon rains it down again New COPD  nurse took over at myGPs last year and its taken nearly a full year to 'train' her and prove that I don't waste her time and can accept treatment if its given properly

Cheers

I asked Dave yesterday, but he hasn't heard anything. Mick was told to leave his phone at home, and there is no wifi,  so we won't hear until he gets to his moms.

Are there any guestimates on how long is a piece of string, ie. when he will be allowed out ?

I said he should go to Bristol !
They allow phones ( they used mine to keep my folks informed ! ) and they have wifi ( but I didnt need that cos I have a 3G dongle ).

Unfortunately, he had to leave his phone at home and has probably not got a card that works the old fashioned types. Assuming he had the op on Tursday, he should be out tomorrow or Sunday.

I spoke to Mick the day before his op and he said he expected to be in hospital 4-5 days after the op.
Then he would recuperate at his mums for a few weeks.
Davie b will probably be first to hear how Mick is.He said he would let us know as soon as he hears some news.
