Title: Is it possible to directly insert a video into a post?
Post by: Tdm on January 17, 2016, 07:18:15 PM
I am in the process of creating a new video of my layout that will replace previous "YouTube" videos I have posted of it.

I use AVS video editing software to create video files in various formats.

What I would like to know is can I insert a video file directly from my PC
(from my Videos folder) into a post on here without having first to upload it to YouTube and then post the Link address?

If so exactly how do you do it - do you use the "Insert Hyperlink" option, and if so how do you get the "Hyperlink", or is there another way of doing it without having to always upload to the Net.

Regards

Terry

I don't know the answer to that Terry but am looking forward to the video having seen your layout in the flesh as it were.
By the way, the videos I post are hosted on Photobucket which seems to work OK.

No, you can't host videos here. You'll have to upload it to YouTube or another hosting site, then link to it from here.

I upload mine to Dropbox or MS Onedrive, you need to make them "Public"  or "Shared"  and use a link provided which includes an Authorisation key, if you already have a Youtube account I'd continue to use that, you know how it works, so nothing new to learn, also there is a limit to the free storage space on the other sites and videos soon fill the free space!

Thanks for the replies - was just wondering if it is possible not to have to upload to the Net to show a video.

Am happy to continue using YouTube - but the quality always seems to be somewhat inferior to the footage of the original, and of course it takes time to upload when you are limited to the slow Internet speeds currently available at the moment where we live.
