I loved his role as Professor Snape in the Harry Potter series.

He will be sadly missed.

RIP

Roger

My all time favourite 'screen nasty guy'...  Much to thank him for, 'Quigley Down Under' being a classic example.....

Played well to the "tribal fears" of Americans that anyone with a clipped British accent was likely to be evil.  He'll be missed.

As I was an extra in the filming of Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (I was a baddie) then all I can say is that MY Sheriff of Nottingham is no more...  :'(

The world of acting has lost an incredible personality.

So sad to hear this news :'(
Alan was a superb actor and the archetypal villain, which he displayed wonderfully in 'Die Hard' and 'Robin Hood'.
God rest you, sirrah.

As Alan mentioned, Quigley down under was a great film. The classic line being, " I prefer a rifle, but it doesn't mean I can't use a pistol" or words to that effect.

That's sad news, his portrayal of Hans Gruber in Die Hard was unequalled
even by baddies in Bond Films, in Robin Hood he outacted Kevin Costner
by miles. Years ago he played a devious clergyman in the Barchester
Chronicles  tv series, a hint of his future succcess.

To be fair - Sherwood Forest (or wherever they ended up filming) out-acted Costner  ::)

But he stole the film, no argument from me.  He was by far the best in it.

Most of the forest filming was done in Burnham Beeches which is near Slough...

Running around wearing a kilt and leather waistcoat in a forest in late October got a bit chilly...  :cold:

Currently at Sydney airport waiting for flight to Cairns and it came on morning TV. First Bowie then Rickman. Not a good week.

Sad to lose such a great actor. I liked him as the Sherrif of Nottingham and when he played the Angel in Dogma.

R.I.P Alan .

A bad week indeed. Today was the second time in 4 days I awoke to a sad message on my iPhone screen. There is a poignant photo on Twitter entitled 'Dear Cancer' showing Lemmy, Bowie and Alan Rickman giving the middle finger to cancer....

RIP Alan Rickman and thanks for the memories.
