Sad news that David Bowie passed away this morning.
Dave G
What? Oh no!
RIP David a music Icon
Another Big one is gone...the 2015 is ended bad...and 2016 is started worst..
R.I.P. Ziggy. Stardust.
Very sad news, one of the greatest. Incredible catalogue of songs, All the young dudes,
Absolute beginners, Life on Mars, Jean Genie, Space Oddity, etc among my favourites.
Yep, strangely, I'm quite shattered. He was the music of all my adult life.
I hate today already. First my car won't start and the breakdown company tell me it will be 2 hours. Second the wife comes in and tells me Bowie has died. Thirdly I remember this post of mine (http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?topic=31085.msg354322#msg354322) when we lost Lemmy.
I feel like my whole world is caving in.
RIP David, I'll never forget seeing you play live at the MK Bowl, truly one of the best performances ever!
Soundtrack to my university years 1973-6 (together with Hendrix, Cream and the Dead!)
You're a wee bit after me. 70-73.were my years.
All great Bowie years.
Although no great fan of any of his 'incarnations' I can appreciate him being a legend to his legions of fans across the world.
R.I.P David :goodbye:
Back on his days of high fame I ignored him but over but years Ive come to luv and admire his style and music :'(

Precisely that.
Not a big fan of his music but nevertheless another great talent gone who was also an inspiration to many artists performing now :(
RIP.
Paul
Very sad news - what a talent, one of my real musical heroes. :( "There's a starman, waiting in the sky..."
Absolutely devastated - such an innovator, always one step ahead of the rest :( My favourite of all time.

The same here, but in retrospect the man was a genius!
Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence , your fall to earth was shortened prematurely, Ashes to Ashes...
Oh...
Tenuous connection - I used to sell newspapers in Berlin on a route which included the bar he once frequented.
Thanks David...
My favourite Bowie song is "A Couple of Kooks" from "Hunky Dory".
It must have been cool to have DB as your Dad.
I just heard on the radio that when he was negotiating a deal for a David Bowie video game he took his son Duncan to the meeting as his "video games consultant".
Best regards,
Joe
I just remembered I "met" David Bowie (and Iman) once in the early nineties.
By that I mean we flew from Heathrow to Plymouth/Newquay on the same plane.
He didn't get any star treatment and travelled from the terminal to the plane in a bus with the other passengers.
I went to the toilet during the flight and on passing his seat noticed he was reading something about Bernard Leach and his gang of potters down in Cornwall so I assume that's why he was travelling on that flight.
As well as being a great artist/songwriter he was also a gentleman.
Best regards,
Joe
what a remarkable man, kept his illness a secret to many, Then releases an album days before he passes which has songs about heaven. special
RIP DB.....

Tis indeed Ashes to Ashes if today's front page is to be believed - says he's already been cremated in secret with no family or friends present

A great post !
I've got another "famous people I flew in a plane with" story for you.
I once flew to Johannesburg in the same plane as Alain Delon. On arrival they had the VIP treatment ready for him. There was a young lady waiting for him at the door of the aircraft. I don't know if he's famous in your neck of the woods but he can't be very well known in South Africa because I as I stepped off the plane the young lady asked me "Excuse me, are you Mr. Delon ?". She asked the guy behind me the same question - he was black ! I think they found him eventually.
Best regards,
Joe
