Title: Farish S&DJR 4 wheel coaches
Post by: austinbob on December 16, 2015, 06:17:23 PM
I have acquired a couple of Farish 0667 coaches but I believe there was also a brake version of this 4 wheel coach.
Does anyone know the Farish catalogue number for this coach and, if you know of any that may be available on fleebay etc.
:thankyousign: :beers:

Bob, I also have two of the 0667 and yes there is/was a brake version. One was on ebay many months ago, but I got beat at the auction, (it went for silly money),  and I have not seen one since  :'( I live in hope! If one does appear on ebay, will we be bidding against each other   ??? David.

Thanks Dannyboy. Don't suppose you know the Farish number of the coach by any chance? I guess you might wanna keep it secret if we're both looking for the same Hen's tooth.

Bob, the catalogue number of the brake carriage is 0677, the link shows the carriage, (about a third of the way down).  :beers: David.

I have noticed a few of the four wheelers on eBay recently (1-2 months back) and some of them were well marked but others were simply "farish coach" or "n gauge coach." Often the people auctioning them apparently don't know what they are! 0.o I would love a rake of these but can't justify them to myself just yet!

It seems that most Farish 4 wheel coaches are expensive so, for someone who does not yet have the skill to repaint such items, I would rather buy the correct coach if I can find one.  :beers:

I know it sounds a lot but £30 for those S&DJR 4 wheel is not bad and paying that price will get me what I want.
The last lot I saw was nearly £45.

Well just received my S&DJR brake coach so here are some photos of my rake of coaches with the S&DJR 4f at the head.
One coach - second from loco has slightly paler lining but not really a problem.

There are two other GF SDJR four wheelers on eBay right now too. Just under "SDJR." Both are a little cheaper than that one (one is a brake)... For now at least!

Okay, don't all rush at once to congratulate me, but I have, at last, managed to get my brake coach and at not a bad price, considering how much the  :censored: things have been selling for lately.  :claphappy: . It has taken me nearly 12 months to get one, but it is now paid for and should be with me in a few days. It is describe as being in "excellent" condition and, according to SWMBO, "it had better be at that price"  :D. (Well I thought it was a good price and as it's my railway, that's what counts  :)). Good on ya Dannyboy.. David  you just have to explain to madam that you're buying a piece of history and that money has no meaning under these circumstances. Tell her it's like buying a beautiful pair of shoes that just have to be added to a collection for posterity so that future generations can see how beautiful they are.....  :hmmm: :beers:

Tell her it's like buying a beautiful pair of shoes that just have to be added to a collection for posterity

Thanks Bob, I will try that, although in my case, I have to substitute shoes for handbag - why she needs dozens of handbags is beyond me  - she has, after all, only got two hands :hmmm:. Actually, to be fair to her, she does not mind me spending the money, (as long as the bills are paid   ;D). David.

And I bought 4 of them - yippee! Trouble is, they are only worth that if somebody wants to pay that amount. On second thoughts, I am not selling - it took me too long to get them!

Glad you got what you wanted eventually - I know you've been looking for a while.
I think I paid about £150 for my 4 - outrageous!! BUT sometimes ya just gotta have stuff!
Truth is they're not even very good models, but they look great behind my S&DJR 4F - so what the heck - money well spent in my opinion.
:beers:

So true Bob. I did not quite pay what you paid, (sorry  :-[), but it was still a lot for what is 'just' 4 carriages. But as long as we are happy

I've just been to the NGS and picked up 3 SDJR coaches for £15 from Anoraks Anonymous! Not boxed or mint but good runners!

Alan Docherty of Worsley Works does a full range of SDJR coaches, four wheel, six wheel and bogie stock. I've built a number of them using a combination of scratch and 2mm Association bits for the underframes although I'm sure there are numerous N gauge chassis that could be adapted.
I'd post a picture but still not worked out how you do it on here from an iPad

Great if you're into building stuff but I wanted to get the ready built stuff and, as a result, had to pay for it.
Railway gun did well to get them for the price he paid.
:beers:
