Title: Rant alert !
Post by: jonclox on February 02, 2011, 02:57:19 PM
Well it says we can post about anything  :-\ so
This afternoon I casually asked my 1st wife (only wife ever actually) if there was anything she needed done today that I could 'help' with..now I only offered in a halfhearted voice but..........
She-------------''Yes go and tidy the youngest sons old bedroom up''
Me-------------''Do you mean my railway room''
She-----------''Yes the room I decorated to look nice when son left home 2years ago''
Me------------ '' :-[ oh ok  ::) but 90% of that rubish is good railway modelling stuff''
She-----------'' Have I got to do it myself ? .....''
Me------------''Eek Um er''
She -----------''............in which case I`ll throw anything rubbish looking away''
Me-----------''On my way to make a start my love  :-[ ::)''
So guess what I`m doing this afternoon ?
              Grrrrrrrrrrrrr

I think that keeping your wife in a shed is rather frowned upon these days. ::)

To use an old joke.....

If she can get far enough to see into your train room you need to shorten the chain...... (only kidding)

Wish I was that lucky - my layout is in the lounge and so has to be moved on a regular basis in accordance with 'her ladyship's' wishes/commands.

My tactics involve an attic, and some imaginary, but very big, spiders. She's never been more than half way up the Ramsey ladder. The only person that ever sees my layout in the flesh is the gas man, because the boiler* is up there (actually one of our regular engineers is an enthusiast himself).

*no jokes about old boilers, wives, etc., please.

In all fairness and joking aside my wife (of 36 years so far) is a fantastic person. I wouldn`t trade her for the world and she did ask me to tidy up the bedroom today because just before Chistmas 2010 the son whose room it used to be asked us to store a new cot untill this month when he and his partner are expecting their 1st child......our 1st grandson :) space was cleared and my railway stuff all pied in a heap. With all the retracking etc I did over Xmas the room had become a mess and certainly needed tidying.
I was pleased to do it actually and found several 'bits' that had been missing for weeks.
So it was fun in a strange way.....as this whole thread was meant to be ;D

Thinking about it my problem now is my 2 year old daughter, she loves trains and has her own collection but still wants to get her hands on mine

Findus - you're a lucky man!

I think I'm pretty lucky too - I have a whole room I can put my layout in .  It looks like a bomb dropped, but as long as the door is shut my wife doesn't care.  I am in the the process of tidying so I can get more done in there.  And that is getting me more than a few Brownie points!

My wife doesn't help with making stuff (yet, anyway) but she has a friend who loves the model train thing but doesn't have her own, so she will happily come over and help me build stuff.

If I tell my wife about my new Western nameplates, she'll say "That's nice".  But I think she likes that I have something to keep me busy and out from under her feet.  When I'm playing trains she gets the remote all to herself!!! :smiley-laughing:
