Title: slow down when cornering
Post by: MrDavidCallan on November 30, 2015, 05:51:05 PM
Hi all
Can I pick some brains again?I have a couple of Diesels(Farish)that slow down drastically when going through a radius. Also a Hall class steamer that I recently replaced the pick up retainer on.I initially dismantled bogies and checked/adjusted the tension between pickups and wheels on the diesels.
This only happens with my Co Co`s not Bo Bo`s and other locos.Should I investigate pickup contacts further or is there a more common cause that I`m missing?Ta Aron.

If they are the older Farish ones then it can indicate the worms want a spot of oil or the bearings want a touch of adjustment. It's usually the drive mechanism that causes any issues -  the pickup springs are really quite weak.

If it's only the Co-Co's and not the Bo-Bo's, it could be that the radius is too tight and the six wheel trucks are binding as they go around the curve?
