Title: The Orient Express
Post by: Malc on November 30, 2015, 12:02:14 PM
There is a programme on Ch4 between 8 - 9pm about the Orient Express called The World's Most Famous Train. You might argue with the title, but could be worth watching.

All set up to record - assuming my aerial is still vertical :worried:

Thanks for that.

Set up to record.

Hope there's not too much talking and some shots of the train.

Decorum prevents from mentioning what I'd do or say if a man in a pink jacket is involved.

He's not, is he?

Cheers again weave  :beers:

Been on the Viagra again Nobby?

:sorrysign:

I tried that once but swallowed it too slowly and got a stiff neck ::)
We've been suffering from rather windy weather and my aerial see-saws wildly but luckily it's still in place.

Maybe you shouldn't ride it in high winds  ::)

Damm I forgot about that program, will have to watch it on catch up. If your aerial's not straight Mick I would not even think of going up to straighten it you know what happened to Emu and Rod Hull.

I get vertigo standing on the pavement, Chris, so there's no chance I'll be shinning up a ladder

I don't want to disillusion you Chris, but I suspect Rod Hull was on his own when he was fixing the aerial. Or maybe he wasn't and that was why he fell.

Just watched this on Skybox How the other half live £16 just for one cocktail its way out of my league £3000 plus for a return journey BUT WHAT A TRAIN ,WHAT A JOURNEY  the only thing that could beat it is THE ROCKY MOUNTAINEER and that's just as expensive still I might win the lottery someone's got to.

Completely O.T.T.
One could build a copy in N gauge and  watch it going round and round for years for that money
Not even going to put it on my bucket list

One wonders how much business they will have lost by showing the gift shop manager boasting about how much profit he makes...  or is the clientele just too rich to care?

Daft comic with an emu puppet. Made us laugh. Poor chap died falling off his roof fixing his TV aerial.

If you must:

OTT example of 'his work':

Haven't seen that for ages, amazing how the emu seems
to have a life of its own rather than being just an overgrown
glove puppet.

Hello, I watched it last night on Sky record, it was quite interesting and could have told the first part of the trip from London a bit more. I would like to have seen more of how they crossed the English Channel. Now have to find time to watch the Vulcan programe!

What year did you move over there ?

Quote from: Wikipedia
His first job in television was as a lighting technician with TCN Channel 9 in Sydney, after moving to Australia in 1961. He then began appearing on air, notably as Constable Clot in Channel 9's Kaper Kops with Reg Gorman and Desmond Tester, a regular segment in its children's afternoon programming. Clot proved very popular and soon gained his own segment, Clot in the Clouds, which depicted Constable Clot daydreaming about having other professions, such as a world famous brain surgeon, 'Blood Clot'.

Later he worked with Marilyn Mayo as co-host of a children's breakfast TV programme, The Super Flying Fun Show, playing a wacky character named 'Caretaker Clot', an extension of his Kaper Kops role. Hull first used Emu as a puppet in this show. There are conflicting reports as to how this came about: Hull stated, "Sure I found him in a cupboard but I had put him there in the first place. I concocted him, nobody else." However, a Channel Nine producer, Jim Badger, recalled that he had requested a reluctant Hull to use Emu. The bird subsequently became a regular part of Hull's set on cabarets back in the United Kingdom and Australia.

Probably can also be beaten by some of the Indian trains like the Royal Rajasthan on Wheels

sorry but the current Orient Express is nothing by comparison 8) In fact I think Lizzie gets a smaller room than that on her personal royal train !
