I have been measuring up the space for my layout, as I said in my introduction iam not stuck for space, I have a double garage at the back of my house which is where iam going to build my lay out. There is a room at the end of the garage which is 12ft 6 in long by 7ft 2 in wide where iam going to build in as I want the bays in the garage left empty.
Iam going to build modules as a base for the layout and am thinking of making 4 x 2ft x 3ft 6inch for each end and on the back side of the layout 2 x 2ft x 4ft and on the front side I was thinking 2 x 2ft 6 in x 4ft. Then iam going to have plenty of room on the lay out for a BR mainline station set in 1950's steam iam thinking of doing an LNER route station with engine shed and coach sidings and small goods yard.
Does anyone know of any good videos on module building.
Over the winter iam going to hang new plaster board on the walls of the room in the garage and build a new wall with door to make the room lockable as there is no end wall from the pedestrian door at the moment. After the room is ready iam going to run electric cables to the garagr and put in a fuse box as it doesn't have power yet. But iam looking forward to starting the project.

The easiest modules are flat modules. With these you can purchase all sides at a
DIY store and the maybe cut it there to length.
Hill, dam and cut modules are a bit more complex, because here you have to
gave the endmodules the needed shape or you could buy the required endprofiles from

Be careful with 4ft boards as you can guarantee that if something comes off the track it will be at the furthest points war from you and you will struggle to reach over without damaging the scenery on the layout.
I would go a bit thinner 3ft max or have the track 2.5ft from where you operate from.
