The basic Peco cradle I use to work on my engines when they start playing is on it's last legs.
I would like to replace it with a cradle with a rolling road also incorporated.
Who makes them and who supplies them to work with a DC system, and which is the best without being too expensive?.

Thanks for the Link - but does it include any "cleaning fluid" in the package as Hattons won't post me anything with fluids or batteries inside because of airline security measures?

If it's anything like their track cleaner which left a greasy deposit on my rails I had to clean off with IPA I'd avoid it, Terry :unimpressed:
I know of no rolling road/cradle combination so use this method to clean wheels (can be used for rolling stock, too)

I have one of those in OO; one of these days, must get the rollers for N ! It's pretty decent; I've had no complaints on using it DC or DCC.

This uses a pair of conductive strips which are also very slightly abrasive.
So the loco on the track can run, and the strips clean the wheels,

No fluids involved. The strips have croc clips to connect to track power
There are comments in some of the wheel cleaning threads. No batteries.

I use a section of blue picture frame protector, as a cradle, hot glued to a food tray to catch falling bits. Unit holds locos/ wagons well, and is free from the bins of your local picture framer!

Yes. Thrown or worn traction tyres are either:
a) Hard to come by,
or,
b) A pain in the proverbial backside to replace and fiddle fadle on with the things.

I am thinking about the Gaugemaster wheel cleaner Railway Gun 1st referred to, but haven't made my mind up yet.
I have on order from Gaugemaster 2 Pier sets to use under the rising track on my Up & Over figure of 8 Section, so might add the wheel cleaner to the order.
Talking about Monsters I have just finished reading a Stephen King book "Skeleton Crew" which is all about some strange man eating monsters, quite surprised with the story as I though it would have a maritime theme going by the title - but it doesn't.
Getting back to the subject of model railways, am just waiting delivery of forementioned piers to complete my layout and run trains round it. Got a bit of re-wiring to do in the meantime, and have made some minor adjustments to the design which now looks like the drawing below.
