Seems the latest "selfie" craze is to have your photograph taken sitting on a railway line :o
Not a disused line but a real live, fully functional railway line with those big things called locomotives that bear down on you at great speed :uneasy:
So ..... a question to all modern outline modellers, is there space for this on your layout?

What's the context for this? No barriers or warning lights!? Is there an "after" pic too?
For my Japanese layout I really should add the little sign gracing the nearby level crossings which has a list of helpline numbers on it (including the English language one, helpfully written in Japanese only).
It could be done, with the little plastic person on the tracks connected via a wire to a solenoid or servo motor, which in turn was connected to an IR sensor through some electrickery.
Hence when a train approached, the little so and so would jump out of the way. The train would not be derailed, and after it passed, the little plastic freak would automatically jump back onto the track.
Make a nice little animated gimmick, I reckon.
But out of place if you're running 1950s-60s stuff though. :D

From a purely selfish viewpoint (so let's
not have comments on how traumatised everyone
including a passing mongrel 1/4 mile away will be, hmmm ?) I'd say run the chav over ! A few of these
might convince the rest of the muppets that this really
isn't a clever or cool thing to do ... although how a piece of plastic can think that beats me :P
To be more realistic, however ... I do feel that having such a detail on a working layout that may be seen by this type of muppet may actually encourage them, let alone the litigation risk ! "
I saw it on a model railway, it's their fault so I'll sue them !" ...
Sorry to put the downer on ...
I think it was Network Rail who posted their CCTV pictures of women and children doing this recently. It may encourage some more to have a try. Authentic setting s shown here.

Wonder if it would help if they wore HiVis vests .........
When is a selfie not a selfie? When someone else takes it surely?
That would be an "otherie" I guess.
Or maybe a "Themmie"
Traditionally a "selfie" taken by someone else is called "taking a photo" ;)
