Title: Train Set in a Tin
Post by: Sprintex on October 25, 2015, 06:10:20 PM
At our recent UK PonyCon adventure we came home with various My Little Pony merch including numerous ponies themselves, plush toys, a Christmas bauble, etc. Also, in a reversal of interests from me going to an MLP event Clare bought her own train-set, from the charity stall for the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) came this "Train Set In A Tin" for the grand sum of £9.95  :)

So let's open the tin and see what's inside . . .

(http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/gallery/14/thumb_30901.jpg) (http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=30901)

There's the train and some straight bits of track then

(http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/gallery/14/thumb_30902.jpg) (http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=30902)

Underneath is the curved track and one AA battery (battery INCLUDED - there's a novelty!  :laugh2: )

(http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/gallery/14/thumb_30903.jpg) (http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=30903)

So, one caboose, two wagons, and three lots of track. Where's that loco gone?

(http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/gallery/14/thumb_30904.jpg) (http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=30904)

Ah there it is, body off to insert the battery.

We could have set the track up in the usual oval formation, but clever dick here went for something more abstract  ::) Clare's assembling the train.

Voila!  8)

And of course the all-important videos!

And a change of track-layout to a hexagon. Gives a whole new meaning to roundy-roundy  :D

Great little desktop toy

For a moment there I thought the trainset was a layout in a tin. Not quite but that little set is so cool for less than a Tenner. Nice buy Paul.
:D :beers:

I doubt it, haven't measured the track but I'd guess it is 11-12mm gauge ;)

It's digital - you use one of your digits to poke the on/off switch :D

This could start something new as they are available on eBay, just do a search for "Train in a tin" and then search for the cheapest as the prices vary quite a bit.

You could get one and turn it into a Christmas train or design a layout round it

Cheers John.

Dunno about the latter but the Christmas train is an excellent idea.

My son baught me one as a joke last year and I had it running on the dining room table while we were having Christmas dinner ,not big enough to carry any food round though. But we passed the jokes and junk from the crackers round .
But it made Motherinlaw laugh which was quite an achievement .

Love it, and it's more accurate than anything Lima ever made too.

Bet I don't get one for Christmas.

Unless I buy one for myself.
