VAT may well go down 2.5%......
but what will the price increases be...?
The saying "Give it to you with one hand"
"And take it away with the other"...springs to mind

News to me. As far as I am aware for the most part it is going up again but by stealth this time - removing exceptions. So for example VAT will now apply to things like cycle to work scheme arrangements (nothing like raising costs of something by about £30/month to make more people take up a green benefit!) , employee food vouchers, works canteen arrangements, caravan sites, personal yachts,..
Some of them are huge shifts as they've gone from exempt to 20% in one shot.
Oh and most fuel duties are going up including things like aviation fuel
Simple answer - no.
Alan - I am not sure we should be worrying too much about VAT on personal yachts! Though I agree with the general point.
Well that's it then, the Learjet will have to go, I'll keep the yacht for now though
::) ::)
You'll be fine Lawrence. The tax on private jets has been delayed for a year.
The 20% VAT was a permanent measure, so it won't be going down. On the news yesterday it said that VAT was going up to 23% in Ireland!
Phew that was lucky then! I think I'll forget buying that Irish brewery though ;)
