Oh another little project 90% complete is now viewable, I Destroyed a perfectly good Tomix bus chassis and used a pile of plasticard to make a working Foden lorry that follows my hidden wire!

Next a 3D print of some hollow load to hide the workings!

Looks pretty good, Paul. Well done. Will there be a tutorial in the offing?

				Love the lorry!
Video category: "Comedy"??? Brilliant.

All it needs now is a cop car chasing it. The driver is obviously drunk :D

That is simply brilliant.  The level of modelling and micro-engineering shown on this forum is awesome.

Intrigued - I presume that's the Tomytec bus system running on a Faller style wire?
Unfortunately in standard form I've found the Tomytec and Faller systems (Faller is what I have laid) aren't quite compatable, so would be interesting to hear how you did it.
Cheers,
Alan

				Thanks - interesting stuff.
I've got parts from the Tomytec sets (like this : http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10130252 (http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10130252) ) as well as the older Faller stuff (is that still even being made?).
I have to say I was disappointed with the Tomytec by comparison the Faller - the Tomy seemed better engineered, but the use of button cells gave a much lower battery life that the Faller units (30mins on flat for Tomy max Vesus over 5 hours on a non flat circuit for the Faller). I haven't done too much more investigation with it (long term project) though, so there may be many things I'm doing wrong that could be improved.
I agree on the magnet placement - I found the Tomy ones too strong for my Faller circuit - I had considered buying other weaker magnets to avoid this. But I got rather sidetracked by trying to fit SMD brake and headlight LEDs.....
Cheers,
Alan

P.s. Speed wise it looks spot on to me.

It was not so much the speed I was commenting on but more the weaving :)

Driver's had one too many jars.....  :beers:  :beers:

and who parked the HST on the platform?

And who drew that big dog? >:(
Oops - sorry. That was an advert, wasn't it

Excellent result Paul. I am  still struggling with producing a chassis suitable for a half cab bus, which has a lower chassis than a lorry. The Faller steering needs to be modified so that the rear track rod is fixed or has reduced lateral movement to avoid contact with the mudguards.  Funnily enough as I keyed this I have an idea......
