Title: So what are you waiting for?
Post by: Newportnobby on December 05, 2011, 08:35:51 PM
I seem to have spent most of this year waiting for a few items to come through in the post, namely the Farish 108/101 and the Dapol 26/121.
The only things I have left on pre order are the new Farish GUV's, the Farish standard 5MT and the Farish Ivatt Mogul (although I'm not going to hold my breath for the last one after a discussion on the Bachmann stand at TINGS)
So, for now I have no sense of anticipation. There have been things announced I'm interested in - such as the Dapol Bulleids, but nothing seems to be actually looming close.
Do you have anything on pre-order you're kinda excited about (can't wait, won't wait) and if so, what? No wish lists please, just what is on order.

A set of LS Models type F Wagon Lits sleeping cars to go with my class 71 a la Night Ferry. Unfortunately they've been pending production for about three years now, and even when I have that the SNCF van is going to be a separate challenge.

Nothing specifically on order ... but am waiting for the Hornby Clun Castle (yes, I know, it's the wrong size for here - so sue me  :P), as she is both sound-fitted and named after a local castle to me ... and I visit her under maintenance every so often    She had her boiler looking good last time - still nothing on her plates, but the assembly has finally started  ;D.

Oh, & a bus  :smiley-laughing: Really  ;D.  There's one been released with the route that ran past my door when I were a nipper (and used it many a time)

Nothing is expected to arrive in sunny NC from the major suppliers right now.  My FGW HST came a little while ago, and then having been on tenter hooks for 5 weeks for my 121s and then the surprise arrival of my 4-CEP I think everything has now arrived.

I am still very excited to receive my detailed restaurant car from Chris and my Warship from Dr Al. :beers:

Apart from that I am hoping for a Western from Dapol, and for clear resin 166 cab ends and clear resin tube bodies from Bob at N-Train.  None of those will happen till 2012.

I have given up hope on the gasometers from Bachmann on pre-order at Rails. :(

So much for 'no wish lists' then ::) ;D

I did actually tell a customer the other day that if he couldn't get what he wanted from our distributors to come back to me. He said "I want my mortgage reduced" which stumped me (for once)

Dapol Western in Sand livery - Why such an awful livery ? Sentimental reasons - A Lima Western was the first loco my dad bought me for the princely sum of £9.50. (brand new !)

Graham Farish Atlantean and Leyland National Buses. I can re-create Stevenage bus depot from the 1980s (and have a go at LEV1).

Really itching for the Fox Valley GP60M and GP60B to turn up, their GEVO was a stunningly nice model but for one fundamental flaw...too modern

Have to admit I like single trams-not the modern articulated ones - would love someone to  make a set of :NGAUGE:singledeck Blackpool Trams.

I love the double decker Blackpool Balloon trams.  Big part of every holiday from my childhood.  Would love to see that in N.  Might be my next project if I could get those.

The tower would only be 3.5 feet tall!

To answer the original question, many many things lol. I only have a few on pre-order though, these being as follows:
-Dapol XC HST
-Dapol NMT Pair
-Farish Ivatt 2mt (Owing to Hattons not updating the price until only recently)
-Dapol/Rails Class 26 Twins.

Oh and i am expecting a couple more Ixion Manors (hopefully run better than my first one) from Work as we found out we can now order them to sell in the shop :D

Things i am waiting for but haven't pre-ordered are too numerous to mention but contain....
-Farish Mk1's (FO, RMB, GUV...)
-Dapol 86 Dummy
-Dapol Signals
Etc....

I got the new dapol test car 10 on pre order and I've just had permission from SWMBO to preorder 3 dapol 56's, hopefully avoiding any price increases this year.
Also a 3car blue/grey Farish class 101 has permission from the household authorities but only in january.

I'll carry on wearing the skirts, specially if it means i get to go to Hattons!

do you think I'll manage to get away with adding a couple of Mk1 coaches, RMB and BCK in blue/grey to the shopping list on the next visit??

Does SWMBO love me enough?

Waiting for these trucks - http://www.traintrax.co.uk/1066275-mixed-freight-train-p-567.html. (http://www.traintrax.co.uk/1066275-mixed-freight-train-p-567.html.)

Not really into freight but got a Kato DF200N Red Bear off eBay recently and think it is great. I know the trucks are American and the engine Japanese but my on my layout anything goes.

Just a quick note., They are coming likely by the end of the year. These are samples and I also saw the tank and trucks and all looks really good. They will have the same plug in decoder installation as well.
Taken today at Grand Rapids.

Not a lot right now. The class 92 kit to go with the Nightstar rake and the ferryvan rake/. Possibly a 325 if one ever reappears and looks nice. Might build a PCV instead though.

The rest is not yet planned by anyone: Some modalohr or other low well wagons for "rolling road" traffic (failing that I might have to doctor some old US thrall low floors), a Javelin, the new Bombardier international sleepers,a  parcels TGV and an ETR1000.

Very interested in the Javelin, which is high on my 'would like but not available list' and the ETR is a stunning train

It is with a great sense of satisfaction that I post these pictures after installing (almost) all of the detail parts that come in the box on these Fox Valley GP60M and GP60B.
It takes alt on patients and time as well as several #78 and 80 drill bits but the results are great.
I also got all the decoders in and have broken them in in both directions for a couple hours. PS when you remove the shell BE SURE to give them a quick lube on the motor ends as well as worm gear ends.
Here are the pictures.

Love the locos Mike

I have recently bought some of the Fox Valley models and must say I am extremely impressed by the quality in finish and the smoothness in running. Have yet to fit decoders to my latest two so not able to run properly yet.
