SWMBO dragged me off on a camping break, but our campsite in Norfolk (Kelling Heath) has a station on the North Norfolk Rly. and last weekend they had a steam gala. Here are some pics.[smg id=28931 type=preview align=center caption="031"][smg id=28932 type=preview align=center caption="030"][smg id=28933 type=preview align=center caption="032"][smg id=28934 type=preview align=center caption="033"]
and some more,
I have to keep it brief as my internet connection seems to have a short attention span![smg id=28935 type=preview align=center caption="035"][smg id=28936 type=preview align=center caption="038"][smg id=28938 type=preview align=center caption="042"]
SWMBO wants me to do something else now so will post some more pics later(including some diesels for those of that persuasion!)
and some more![smg id=28939 type=preview align=center caption="043"][smg id=28940 type=preview align=center caption="045"][smg id=28941 type=preview align=center caption="046"][smg id=28942 type=preview align=center caption="047"][smg id=28943 type=preview align=center caption="048"][smg id=28944 type=preview align=center caption="050"][smg id=28946 type=preview align=center caption="051"]
Great pics - thanks!
Last time I was at Kelling Heath camp site, the railway line at the bottom of the site was just a cutting! :o
and more[smg id=28947 type=preview align=center caption="052"][smg id=28948 type=preview align=center caption="060"][smg id=28949 type=preview align=center caption="061"][smg id=28950 type=preview align=center caption="062"]
[smg id=28952 type=preview align=center caption="064"][smg id=28953 type=preview align=center caption="065"][smg id=28954 type=preview align=center caption="066"][smg id=28955 type=preview align=center caption="068"][smg id=28956 type=preview align=center caption="071"][smg id=28957 type=preview align=center caption="072"][smg id=28958 type=preview align=center caption="074"][smg id=28959 type=preview align=center caption="075"]
And as promised some for those who like diseasals [smg id=28961 type=preview align=center caption="059"][smg id=28960 type=preview align=center caption="063"]
Someone told me that the class 31 was known as the rice pudding class because they couldn't pull the skin off one, but I don't know if that was just him![smg id=28962 type=preview align=center caption="054"][smg id=28963 type=preview align=center caption="024"]
Sorry pics 063 & 059 are the wrong way round (59 is the class )31
Great stuff. Thanks for sharing those pictures.
Sounds like an excellent place for a campsite.
There is no best place for a camp site....brings back orrible memories of wet and windy damp nights and days...the joys of UK camping...now the kids are grown up its cushy hotel rooms for me any day of the week..ps putting aside the nice steamers photos.. :D
Some very nice pics there, Steve
Have you entered any into the Competition? :D
We must've crossed paths at some point - I was there at some point both days!

No Nobby, I don't do that sort of thing, just take 'em for my pleasure and share for my mates.
I HATE camping with vengeance. Memories of getting soaked for a week in the Lake District in my early twenties.
However, that looked like a tolerable trip.
Thanks for posting your cool photographs

Know what you mean, but now we've got a "tin-tent", so, if the weather's bad I just turn up the heating and get out my modelling stuff!

So it never looked like this to you:-

To be fair I didn't expect it to be like this when we went in June after our previous water-logged holidays there about a decade ago!
Cool photo. To be honest when I was there last year it was... well, for one day, anyway.
Where is the location there, please?
That was taken on Ullswater from the cruise boat.
Lovely shot. The lake looks very still.
You can tell they get a lot of rain by the size of the puddles! :D
Thanks for sharing your photos, looks like there was a great selection of locos to see running! I'm with Bealman on camping though; being 6' 4" I struggle to get dressed in most tents. Last time I went was when I was about 20; I went woefully unprepared, got really cold and ended up sleeping on the back seat of my car. Luckily, I had a 7 series at the time so it was an enormous space to sleep in with climate control, reading lights everywhere and a radio!

Yes! a B1, B12, two 9F's and a standard class4 for kettle lovers and class 37 and 31 for others. A black 5 and a spam-can failed to make it, the 5 had leaky superheat and the spam-can was held up by an accident on the motorway. Why don't they come by rail?

Lots of complicated paperwork to get them certified for running on the main line, and to compound matters further, the main line between Cromer and North Walsham was downgraded to Route Availability 7 last year, so most kettles are now deemed too heavy for the route.
