Title: HELP. Nem couplings AND SPRINGS for class 08 shunter !!!
Post by: badgercote on September 04, 2015, 04:17:22 PM
I had to replace the contact/wheel retainer on my little 08 Farish shunter, and yes, on removing the retaining screws.... the tiny, tiny springs behind the couplings both shot off into space never to be seen again !
I've now got floppy couplings.
Trouble is, where the flip can I get these springs? All web and shop retailers appear to be waiting for couplings/spring kits so I'm stuck with couplings that dangle.
Are any of you that generous that you may have a few to spare.
Or have you wonderful ideas how to fix my floppy problem?

Bob at BRlines seems to have them,GF0003-2.

For the sake of clarity is your 08 the one that is not fitted with NEM sockets?

If so I have spare springs and could send you a few for free, however I cannot do it for about 10 days as my spares box is on t'other side of the country.

PM me your details if you can wait that long and then also ask the Mods to see if they can delete this thread to save others hunting for some.

If it's NEM springs you need they're available from Hattons, link below

Those are for Dapol easy couplers not Farish mate!

True but the thread is titled "NEM couplings and springs" which is why I asked the question to determine which springs are required.  The 08 could be NEM fitted and converted to Dapol couplers?

"Need input" as Number 5 said in the film Short Circuit.

Thank you for your replies.
The Farish code is 379-405 for a pack of ten or however many.
Talk about unavailable ! Rocking horse muck doesn't come close !
Nobody, but nobody has these things. Can anybody still help ?
Thanks.

Thanks, that is a really useful article to read.
However it doesn't address the problem of lack of springs in the big wide world.

No but it might stop you losing the new ones when you get them ;)
