Had about an hour of thunderstorms last night ... "so what", you may think, "so did I" ... well, right in the middle was at least 10 minutes of near-constant sheet lightening & continuous thunder ! Never had the likes of it before ...
And there's another front just come in - gone from a reasonable day to black (at noon !) in only few minutes ... :o Raining stair-rods again now ...
Summer ? What summer :(
Even though the weather is being fickle it is good to know that the farmers have been able to get the bulk of harvesting done!
The thunder storms have missed us completely, unfortunately!
Peter.
We had a couple of bursts of thunder/lightning last night before 22.00 but nothing like the corkers I remember as a lad when the houserolled up newspaper in septic tank used to shake as the thunder rolled across the sky and then crashed down on us.
It's not looking too clever at the moment, though............... :worried:
You were in a septic tank? Luxury. In our day we had to cling on to the inside of the U-bend.
Weather reasonably normal here, though there are two super typhoons lingering suspiciously to the south while deciding which part of the Orient to regale with wind and rain.

They cause you to wear your underwear on the outside.
Reminds me of many years ago, the wife and I were watching a tremendous thunder and lightening storm through the lounge window. After one enormous crack, the curtain pole landed on my head. Blimey, I thought , we've been hit. After composing myself, I discovered her in a quivering state on the floor - she had been so surprised by the last crash that she grabbed the curtain and in so doing pulled down the pole!!!!

Stair rods here too in "sunny?" Bournemouth, glad I got some milk yesterday, I ain't going out in this. It's already filled the bird bath again.
Had a light shower or two yesterday, but nowt like the weather up north or down south. Must be circling around the Midlands.
So...whilst much of the country has at least had some sun we've had RAIN. It started on Wednesday morning at first light and has rained ever since (except or a short while yesterday afternoon).

Tell her to get out of the bath and fetch the milk, then ;)
No thunder but we've had monsoons in Peterborough this afternoon! Hope it dries up for the Beer Festival. :beers:
Will you be able to tell the difference between pre-railed-in beer & post-rained-in beer ???
I am glad we got this sorted a couple of weeks back in the sunshine :-

Go on, you all love your weather; it's the British way!! :) :) (And it keeps you from being like that lot across the Channel). imagine queuing at a bus stop with nowt to talk about? It's what you do: ''Ere Glad, me arthritis is playin' oop. Aye Flo, must be cos of weather. It's soony now, an soon was never good for arthritis...' We all know how it goes, and when the Englishman is abroad, his memories are of rain over splendid English hills (and round the back streets of Speke, although you never hear THAT particular bit of climatology in print); and how it rained in the middle of July and at the beginning of July, and even at the end of July... ('Summer' you know).
As I said, you all love it, but, of course as one never admits to such things, I will find my hat, my coat and my water wings and the door (if it hasn't already been used as a surf board), and step out into the nearest (Summer) puddle. It's the way things are...
By heck - I remember going to the post TT motorcycle races in June at Mallory Park in the 70's and it snowed ???
I'm off to Dorset for the steam fair on Saturday, just packing my wellies and wetsuit as it looks like Tarrant Hinton will be like the Somme again - it isn't a lot of fun in a tent when its like that.
Regards,
Alex
I don't think the weather has been that exceptional this year. A few weeks of warm weather, but nothing to break records. Some thunderstorms and a bit of flash flooding - again, quite normal for summer. A few drizzly days, but not a washout. I've even managed to wear all my summer shirts and I'm back to the beginning again now!!
Mind you, the summer party for our road has been arranged for Bank Holiday Monday, which I think is tempting Providence a bit too far...
Happy holidays,
Chris
