Last week 2 x AA patrol bikes today, 2 x Bedford Ice cream vans arrived.  Reckon I can fit an icecream seller inside the vans..

Great models.

About time OXFORD realised not everyone models pre 1950 stuff, with very few exceptions their models are in a time warp,  some of us do 21st centuries

And indeed some mid 1960s/1970s models would be nice too.  I'm assuming that Oxford know a lot about making model road vehicles and little about railways; they seem to assume everyone has a 1950s set steam layout

I would imagine 60's and 70's would be popular amongst those just beginning their railway modelling hobby as they would have grown up in those days

:D :D  Thank you George, but I'm 62, have lost count of the number of layouts I've built and LOVE, nay, too weak a word, ADORE ALL the Hydraulic  classes - see my 'tag line' - hence all my layouts are set in the late 1960s AS (After Steam) and early 1970s BT (Before TOPS).

The Ice cream van is a nice model and I agree some modern/60s/70s vehicles would be welcome.

Dunno about fitted (except for Mrs HGV throwing a one  ::)) but you can always go "vroom vroom" & then sing the Cornetto song while you push it :P

George, you have given me an idea for a new project.... I build small digital voice recorders and then put them under my DC layout at strategic locations.... running water beside stream, neighing horses beside horses, etc operated by push button on the layout's fascia.

Record Mr Whippy, put speaker and push button near the van, and, voila!

I thought the pink ones were Mr Whippy?

But maybe Tonibell painted them pink too?

Certainly round my way we had Tonibell (bright pink Bedford van, Oxford do this one (http://www.oxforddiecast.co.uk/shop/showitem.asp?id=2807) in the WRONG scale) and Rossi (orange and yellow MK2 Transit).

I used to know someone who converted vans into ice cream vans.  He would have been a good source of information on colour schemes etc.  Don't think I'm going to ask him though as he's going to kill me when he see's me!

No icecreams but a generator!  Turned out to be a load of something smelly and half as useful..  Fell out due to conflict of professions.  Law v Criminality!  Can you guess who is which?

Brewery dray.
Does anyone know if they have released details of this being done in liveries other than the S&N one currently available?  I would imagine this is a prime model for liveries of the former big six brewers and a host of smaller regional ones. Some barrels and kegs in addition to crates would enhance this model though.

I see the Chipperfield's Albion horse transporter is to be released again, and wonder if the range of circus vehicles will be widened?  I assume the upset, for want of another word, over using the Chipperfield's name has now been sorted out?  I'm still hoping for those iconic and very widespread Bristol K & L type buses with E.C.W. bodies to be done, but then we all have our personal wish list/s don't we!

Like the look of the Plaxton coach, but do the mirror arms stick out that far?

Just came across this thread (interesting by the way) and I just happened to buy an Oxford Network Rail Ford Transit yesterday. Apologies that the picture isn't solely of the van (and hence could be of higher detail) but I took the picture before seeing this thread.

I'm very happy with the van, but agree that it's one if the few modern vehicles they produce. I do believe this is changing though. It seems to me that the modern range is expanding. I was after the Royal Mail transit van but the shop didn't have any in stock.

Cheers

Dan

the good people of Inverknockie should rest easier tonight, a pair of the Scania pump ladders have gone 'on the run' at Inverknockie fire station.

far tooooooooo modern, but he Rule 1 works for 'elf and safety  :smiley-laughing:

certainly much better than my efforts on the PD marsh tenders.
