Hello,
Off to my local shop tomorrow and I really would like a class 37 for my layout but not sure which one is best suited. At the moment I've got the 08 EWS shunter and I'll be trading my DB Schenker class 66 for the EWS class 66 and the only other loco I have is class 170 SWT. I know I can run anything but I'd like something that won't look to out of place
Thanks.
DB Schenker IS EWS so really there is no need to change your locomotive just because of the colours.
EWS were taken over by DB several years ago but only a small number of their locos were repainted into the German livery.

p/s As to your class 37 there are EWS liveried versions available and absolutely no reasons at all why all your current stock shouldn't operate together with perfect legitimacy.
As an option for the class 66, if it's the Farish model then BR Lines has spare EWS body shells ranging in price from £15.10-£19.50. Unsure about P&P though.
That way if you do fancy a change in the future it's just a case of a body swap.

Actually I do quite like the look of my class 66 DB it's just it's the dreaded Dapol one
I really like the look of these four 37's,
Class 37/4 37407 'Loch Long' BR Blue Large Logo
Class 37/4 37406 'The Saltire Society' Railfreight Distribution
Class 37/5 37514 Railfreight Metal Sector
Class 37/5 37506 'British Steel Skinningrove' BR Red Stripe
Is your layout DC or DCC?
If so, then look at any of the latest DCC versions instead
I agree, the latest releases are of greatest interest
However, only the DRS livery would match the others you currently have, all the others are late 1980s / 1990s
There is also an EWS livery Class 37/0 37174, Farish 371-469, this also uses the latest DCC version chassis
It is DC. You mean this one would be ok http://www.bachmann.co.uk/image_box.php?image=images1/farish/371-169.jpg&cat_no=371-169&info=0&width=650&height=239 (http://www.bachmann.co.uk/image_box.php?image=images1/farish/371-169.jpg&cat_no=371-169&info=0&width=650&height=239)
That one will be OK Saw as they do run alongside EWS locos in real life.
I bet there are a quite a few folk on here who'd be very interested to know where there is stock of the DRS 37 to be had at the mo!!
I think this version of the recent 37 releases disappeared off the shelves very quickly.
If a colleague on the Forum identifies a shop with the DRS locos in stock, the phones might get pretty hot, pretty quickly!!
Adrian
371-169 is 37/4 in DRS livery
There is also 371-469 a 37/0 in EWS livery
