Hi everyone,
I am new to the N GAUGE FORUM so please bear with me !!!!
I purchased a class 58 and also a warship, both Graham Farish. Both were run in as per usual routine ( been modelling for 30/40 years) but both are very slow round the track,in fact with the controller on full, both run well but are so slow, can anyone explain this ???
Regards Ronnie
That 58... If it was sold to you as a Farish you might want to ask for your money back, as the only company which has ever produced 58s is Dapol ;)
If it is a Dapol, then yes it's expected to be slow like the prototype. Can't speak for the Warship.
Anyway welcome on board!

The Dapol 58 is relatively slow. The 'Warship' though is as quick off its heels as the real things were, and should easily run at a scale 100 mph.
Check there isn't a short circuit somewhere. That's a common reason (I find) for locos to crawl when they should be flying. It's also worth removing the bogies and seeing if the motor itself can run smoothly. Sometimes the motor is fine, but the gears in the bogies are jammed with fluff or have damaged teeth causing the wheels to run slower than they should.
