Title: Workbench lamp
Post by: Adrian on May 06, 2015, 05:54:08 PM
I could do with a bright light to direct onto my workbench - either that or go Gauge 1!!!

Any recommendations please? Perhaps something with a daylight bulb/lamp? Halogen ...... LED?

I use a head magnifier so don't need the combined lamp/magnifier variety?

Any help much appreciated

Thanks

Adrian

I use a small mains led lamp with a bendy  neck, gives a very  bright
light in a concentrated area about  £10-£12 from Lidl last year.

Lidl vote from me too, but for the straight stem with adjustable angle at base and top, I have two each of 2 types one with a fluorescent tube, the other with halogen bulb. They have the option of a heavy weight base or a clamp; with the clamp you can only fix it to an edge of a bench/table, whereas the heavy base takes up bench space. Use them for bench, desk and bedside lights.

One of each type among the cluuter

Way back in March 2013 there was a great deal of interest about this lamp and quite a few of the membership bought themselves one.  Checking the original company out, they do still sell them, however if you have no objections to a black finished lamp you could save yourself £4 plus free postage from Amazon

The Lidl version looks good but nothing like it in my local store today.

I have the Lifemax lamp and have found it quite useful with a nice white light. My tip is to look around for the lowest cost replacement/spare tube while you're online!

I bought a solar one from that Swedish place. easy to recharge when the sun is out or you can slip the batteries out and put them in a mains charger. main benefit for me is that there are no cords, making it really portable. enough light for me to work by in localised areas. cheers, Bill.

I bought one of these when it was on special offer for £25, well worth the money.

I use a fairly standard desklamp but have a colour corrected (artists) bulb in it so that colours appear correct. Theyre not expensive... 3 quid or so. Also being a bulb means you dont get any illusions on rotating items ...

My lamp is a Lifemax which I am happy with, my first lamp was one from Hobbycraft, it lasted 5 mins if you know what I mean, try getting a refund or getting it replaced from them too. I swore a oath never to buy from them again!.
