Title: Dapol OO Pendolino
Post by: Pengi on April 13, 2015, 06:51:48 PM
Didn't know Dapol made a Pendo?  (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dapol-Vigin-4-car-Pendolino-Virgin-Voyager-/251909827719?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3aa6feec87)

Anyone know more about this model?

Strangely it was being discussed on the forum which shall not be named last week.

Consensus was that it's a very basic model, most likely based on prototype drawings that doesn't really look that much like the final thing, and for which other intermediate cars are hard to come by, at best.

A run of unpowered driving cars were produced for the launch of the Pendolinos - I used to have one but flogged it on ebay a while back.

The powered models as I recall consisted of sets of four (two driving cars and two intermediate), with several different names / numbers being produced. The additional cars were designed so that they could be any of the necessary types of vehicle, and came with various clip-in roof parts so that the desired type could be represented.

It wasn't a great model, and the Hornby one is much better.

They do appear on ebay reasonably often.
