It's Good Friday today, but a day when I will not get the opportunity to do anything model railway related (apart from accessing the NGF now just before I have to go out).
Anyone got any special plans for the day?
Our complex is completely full for Easter with lots of holidaymakers and children on site, so I have to help the misses with the activities she has organised for today.
1) - Daytime - Set up the sound system around the Pool to announce the Tombola stall & winners, and play some music, and also announce the Pool Table competition (for both children & adults) that follows the Tombola.
2) – Evening – Attend a House warming Party of one of our neighbours who has just moved into a larger Apartment. His name by the way is "Harry Potter" and that is his real name and he is not the character from the books & films.
Have to sign off now to help the wife carry all the Tombola prizes out to the Pool.
I'm going out drinking in Didsbury and plan to get crucified.
Just about to leave for York for to set up ready for tomorrow!!!
It's wet, cold and breezy here.
Been to garden centre this morning getting bits and bobs for our allotments but this afternoon as the weather is so poor I'll be working on Trepol Bay.
just hanging around
making a start on the hull of the LSM to see what it will load.
holding the bits together with Tamyia masking tape for now, then when I'm happy with how things are looking, will brush on some liquid poly.
typical spring day here - cloudy and wet :'(
hope yours is better

:laughabovepost: Sounds like a good plan to me :)
My plan was to get up late and potter about in my PJs&dressingown doing nothing very much apart from talking to my sourdough culture until well after midday.
So far so good :)
Culture is looking lively so I'll be making bread later but only to feed two, not the proverbial 5000 (or was it 7000?!)
Also, we sacrificed a lamb a short time ago so later today will be the 'feast of the lamb chops'. :)
And I might even get round to some more work on my Silloth Engine Shed.
At work for me. Good for the bank balance though, triple time!
Work again tomorrow, then Sunday at the York show and Monday at Oulton Park for the opening round of the British GT Championship.
So not all bad!
Recovering from Thursday session with Old Speckled Hen and Spitfire....

Similar here but getting ready to do it all again tonight :beers:
Getting ready for visiting relatives, especially my son-in-law who is something of an artist hoping to get some help with painting back-scenes. Found a problem in the tunnel at the corner and the glue has run making the whole thing immovable :veryangry: :veryangry: :veryangry:so got to rip the scenery apart and rebuild even more :veryangry: :veryangry: :veryangry: and a :censored: :censored:
I'm at work. My company doesn't recognize 'religious' public holidays other than Christmas Day - unfortunately that is quite common here in the US...
Away in the caravan this weekend, shocking day weather wise but not to worry I shall have a few beers tonight.

Do you not have a janitor/concierge to help with all that ?
Looks like (with the exception of Tdm) everyone has been getting wet. It's Saturday here now and it rained all day yesterday and it's worse today. I'm flying to Tasmania on Tuesday and can't get me washin' dry! :(
I did some washing, some shopping, went to the gym for an hour or so then had a very nice massage. Not too bad a day
Still out of work so today wasn't much different from yesterday / day before / week before to be honest.
Couldn't sleep so got up early, weather not that good compared to yesterday but decided to persevere with DIY as I have a valuation on the flat Tuesday. Stripped and varnished another two windows this morning. Checked job alerts for an hour or so (not much point phoning today). Had to get out so went to Dingwall Model shop (20min drive) for some motivation. Was hoping they still had that Silver bullet in, must have gone (good thing because I can't afford it) so came home with a couple of brass sections and just fiddled this afternoon and made a signal gantry and cleaned up the DIY mess from this morning.
...Pretty mediocre really, next weekend I'm away down to the central belt to meet a guy I worked for 19 years ago and go to the Union Canal Society 40 year birthday bash. Have to keep motivation going this weekend to keep doing varnishing on windows and doors.
I spent most of the day on the forum and wandering round the internet on model railway sites!
SWMBO had taken over the rest of the flat making a patchwork quilt for a friend - so the lounge had a table up for cutting fabric, and another for the sewing machine - the kitchen had the ironing board up - and the bed had the pieces of the quilt laid out in order so she could see how it was! So I was in the spare room all day - but not much room in here either, as a clothes horse of wet laundry in in here too, so couldn't even get something model railway related out to make! :(
Not totally wasted though - ordered a new loco from Germany (really good price too!), and sent an enquiry to Model Railway Solutions for a baseboard! Having just started a new job with higher wages, I thought that it was about time I got a good baseboard, and actually started building my own layout, rather than working on and running the club's layouts! :)

A very reasonable reaction in the circumstances !
Well, what else can a fella do, lets be fair ! :laughabovepost:
Had a whole day of model making planning but a bloomin stomach bug put paid to that, running to the loo on a regular basis really stops you being able to concentrate on any model making!!
Starting to calm down now at last!!

'Twas a dry day in Tokyo. Working - Easter is not of course a holiday, and has only recently entered the consciousness of marketing droids in the rabbit and egg confectionery industry.
I tried out the new line between Tokyo and Ueno stations and bought a TGV (http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?topic=19028.msg295999#msg295999).

Just out of interest: Channel 4 are doing re-runs of all the Studio Ghibli Films at the moment. I know I'm an adult but I just
love Spirited away and a few others -are these cult films in Japan?

If this story about Japanese tourists flocking to a Tasmanian bakery because it resembles the one in Kiki's Delivery Service (http://www.themercury.com.au/news/tasmania/ross-a-hot-spot-for-fans-of-japanese-anime-classic-kikis-delivery-service/story-fnj4f7k1-1227281707353) is anything to go by, then yes. I live fairly close to the Ghibli Museum (http://www.ghibli-museum.jp/) and apparently it's hard to get tickets for (some woman was arrested the other day for sniping the online ticketing system and selling the tickets on for a 200% markup).

A real fanatic would have taken a table into the loo so that the time wasn't wasted. :D
Gave out to Hardly Normal because new mattress that has been delivered looked like it has been used before. Going to choose a replacement today...
Cleaned and tided the Man-cave, hung my 1873 Cavalry Sabre on the wall. Vacuumed the layout and cleaned the track. Made a trammel and started working on my new layout design. Still trying to figure out how to get another two inches off the width without reducing the return curve radius..
Made diner...
I went to Mattins (morning service) at 6am, and then performed a Vigil in the Lady Chapel of St Thomas, Hanwell till 9am.
A few railway thoughts crossed my mind ( well GWR is God's Wonderful Railway!) as well as others about the wonder odf Easter.
Passiontide service at 3PM, and a rest till Easter Sunday.
Time for some trains today I hope.

I went to York show - been looking forward to it for ages but was really disappointed.
It was far too busy!
I will not be going again - way too much bustling and bumping for me. :'(
I seem to post this same message every year on Easter Saturday but it appears no one heeds it. Why?? :-[
At York, for whatever reason,
60% of the total attendance for the three days pass through the door in the
first three hours. Yes undeniably, it does tend to be crowded in the early/mid afternoon for us exhibitors as well as the public. Please do come again next year but try the Sunday or Monday - you will find it less crowded and more relaxed and enjoyable...
Suggestions please for what can be done to influence human behaviour and persuade visitors to spread themselves more evenly over the three days...
What would your reaction be if the entry price was £2 higher on Saturday than Sunday & Monday?
How would you feel if it was restricted to 2000 people in the hall at a time and you were 2001st to arrive and had to wait outside for someone to leave before you were let in?
Paul
Hi
When I used to go to York I always went on the Monday which never seemed very busy and could see all of the layouts without too much trouble.
Cheers
Paul
Last time I went to York I wore a tutu and came away with the person who is now my wife. This wasn't the railway exhibition and I only wore the tutu on the Saturday night of course. As you do :-[
Edit: Not really sure why I posted this
Edit 2: It was of course donkeys years ago and I have changed somewhat

Friday was spent sampling the joys of the M25, M40, M42 and M6 on our journey to visit the in-laws. Today was spent in the company of 50015 on the East Lancs... 8)
