Title: Warley predictions...?
Post by: REFaust on November 16, 2011, 08:50:53 AM
Just a bit of fun...

We all know Warley is an exhibition where manufacturers like to announce/release new models, so gaze into your crystal balls and give us your predictions for what we might see...

I will start by suggesting that, since one was sold on ebay yesterday  :o , we might see the Graham Farish 411 4 CEP for sale three or four weeks earlier than previously thought...   :D

A modern image EMU! Would love a Southern Electrostar or Pendolino or even a SWT Desiro or Javelin but I would be surprised if any one announced these. Failing that, a vintage EMU, such as the Brighton Belle, would be good.

What chance Farish are flying in samples of the Austerity and the Standard 5MT steamers (well, I can but hope!)

I predict that Warley will be a Noisy, Overcrowded and over rated exhibition and add that to a massive Bun fight at the Manufacturers stands.

I've been once as an exhibitor and to be honest I wouldn't pay to go at all, I don't think people go to see the layouts at all. In my opinion it's just a trade show with the layouts as an 'entertainment' aside.

Cheers

Neal.

I doubt we'll see much new announced. Dapol have basically laid out their forthcoming items already (and have several years backlog on some promises), Bachmann normally do new announcements at the March Model and Hobby trade show.

Happily I'm partly wrong - looks like new toys arriving just in time

The blue grey version of the class 411 has come into stock. The more in
demand Green versions can't be far behind

surely their new signals should be available?

I wander if they will have any massive discounts like on the B1 at TINGS?

Reported elsewhere that Dapol DO have something up their sleeves, but won't say whether it is rolling stock or not or even what scale!

I wouldn't expect a lot of major new anouncements. Mostly (as far a N-gauge is concerned anyway), I expect the manufacturers stands to contain first samples of already anounced but not yet delivered models. Dapol: maybe production versions of the signals, EPs or test shots of the Pacifics?, Farish: possibly a decorated Austerity (if they're not on sale), EP for the modern EMU (350??)

I would think both the signals and the new magnetic couplings would be on sale.
Dapol have really upped their game in the last few months so i wouldn't bet against them having
a surprise or two up their sleeve......

For me i'm guessing the 4-cep will make a brief appearance (Like the a1's did for TINGS) and i'd imagine the A1's will be back on sale. Dapol wise i'd like to think that the signals and couplings are released. Being honest i'm not convinced anything new will be announced, although i do know Dapol will be showing samples of the Rails Eastfield 26 twins :D

I expect Dapol will eventually release a Class 33 as it seems a logical step from the Class 26. And I need loads....

I know that Dapol are not going to do a 465 Networker - I FB'd them to ask.  Apparently they wouldn't sell as witnessed by Hornby 'OO' version....   2 or preferably 4EPB would be nice or an NSE (or Jaffa) 4 CEP...  But I can dream....

:Class414:

Hope the show is good though as I am flying over from Dublin especially...

I'm hope for an EMU, and I think an EPB or a 4CIG would please a lot of people.

Osbournes have mentioned that the 4-CEP is in stock - presumably they've airfreighted a few in for Warley. I'll be giving it a miss this year - finances are a bit stretched following a few months of unemployment.

I am depending on those going to take lots of pictures of all the mouth-watering goodies on offer.  :)

Obviously well in the minority but where are all the steamer fans, I'm still waiting for my Schools, I haven't the skills to build the Worsely Works kit and at my age time's running out!

Modern Image man myself but being born and dragged up in Sussex & Kent - "Southern for Sunshine" and all that....

A schools would be excellent - or an Arthur or even an L1..  A Spam Can, Pullmans and Golden Arrow brandings - now that would be awesome.....

It would be rather good if Bachmann scaled down their range for GF and Dapol scaled down Hornbys - but that is probably not commercially viable...  It could help some of us Southern people and our EMU's...   Although I understand that N-Train are working on a Networker Kit

Heres my prediction for Warley...

It'll be full of inconsiderate soap dodging camera weilding backpack swinging idiots that would rather stand on your feet, kick your heels, swing a weighty bag into your face or vocally curse you for being in their way rather than excise a modicum of decency towards other members of the attending public...just like it has been every year for as long as I can remember

There was a chappie on the Big H forums who was asking for tips about going to swapmeets etc. One of the things I suggested was not wearing a backpack. One poster wouldn't have it. Insists on wearing one. He wondered why I was suggesting anti-smellant under the arms too.  ::)

I don't know what your skill level is, but check out BH Enterprises. I s'pose if you have loadsamoney they might build one for you??

No BHE schools that I've ever seen. Only SR I can think of is the King Arthur which is easy to build with a bit glue but uses a black 5 chassis so looks poor with the vastly undersized wheels. Swapping the wheels might improve it a lot.

Only schools I can think of is the Del-Prade 1:160 cast blob. Maybe with a lot of dremel work usable but I've never seen it done.

A 33 would be most welcomed by me! But (and you didn't hear this from me ;) ) a class 27 seems more likely to me...... (Remember, i didn't say anything of the sort)

Sorry EP. You are quite correct. I wasn't particularly making a reference to the Schools but to the King Arthur, as several peops seem to require SR steamers.

Why on earth these companies insist on producing yet another SR EMU is beyond me, trains do go a little further north.  lmao  :smiley-laughing:

My personal opinion is produce the Class 304,  305,  308  and  504's

I know 504's wouldn't sell brilliantly but the rest were very popular units that ran further north aswell as around london!!!
........ and they would all come out of very, very similar moulds!!!
Title: Re: Warley predictions...?

interesting comment bees. I guess it depends what era you are modelling. When I started in N a few months ago and wanting to model the modern era, I thought that the opposite was true as the modern image DMUs still in production were all outside of the old SR region and the planned modern EMUs were also north of London. My modern southern railway MU fleet thus comprises an XC Voyager and a Eurostar! However take your point regarding SR EMUs.

I can't see a problem - unless someone is taking exception to the comments made about people wearing backpacks.

That is quite possible Kev either way I never detected a personal attack on anyone which is of course the usual reason for reporting a thread reply.

Hi Sithlord - I am the guilty party as I posted something in an inebriated state that was justifiably removed. No issues with any other posts, I believe. :-X
