Sorry to hear that. I was a big fan of Free, still have their "Tons of Sobs" album somewhere. They were especially popular in the North East, for some reason.

Maybe something to do with Paul Rodgers coming  from Sunderland way

Really? I did not know that. We used to see them on a regular basis at the Sunderland Top Rank!

That explains it.... thanks!

So sad to hear this :'(
I first saw Free in Northampton at the Drill Hall in 1969 and was blown away by Andy's bass playing for someone so young. Here's one of his epic performances.............

Free - Mr Big (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FhCilozomo#)

Hope he can team up with Paul Kossoff again. RIP Andy

That's an awesome clip, NPN.... actually,  big time awesome.

Great that while the guitar from Kossoff is going, Fraser is producing am almost bass guitar solo of his own!

Also funny is that the TV camera operators of the time had no idea what to zoom into at the right times....

But then they were only listening to the producer in the headphones, who wouldn't have kniwn the difference between the Old Grey Whistle Test and Top of the Pops.

Thanks George.
It's one of my favourite Free tracks. Andy was also the co-writer of many of their songs alongside Paul Rodgers and, when he stopped gigging, moved into the production side of the music industry. Seems strange to think that when I saw them in 1969 I was the same age as Andy :hmmm:
