Title: yard lamps available to buy in n
Post by: bluedepot on March 15, 2015, 06:58:01 PM
Greetings everyone!

I currently use these P&D Marsh MR yard lamps
http://www.pdmarshmodels.com/show_product.php?pid=61 (http://www.pdmarshmodels.com/show_product.php?pid=61)

They are not bad, but they do seem a bit too 'clunky' to me, is anything more 'fine-scale' available?  I'm not bothered if they work or not.

I don't want modern lamps, I want some old ones...

Maybe something like these (OO ones)...

Cheers for any product suggestions!

Tim

P.S. I am back modelling again now... so expect more questions!! My old layout has been dismantled, but now I have moved I am slowly putting it back together and revamping it... it has it's own room now...

Tim

You could replace the heavy white metal ladder on the PD Marsh lamps with etched brass as this would improve them no end

I am thinking I will do this to the ones on my layout - at some point

I got a set of 5 working lights from "Wehonest" through fleabay. Have just checked, they are still offering them at £8.99/set plus postage £ 1.99 .  think they look the part in my loco works.[smg id=22958 type=preview align=center caption="001 (6)"]

I have the same one's from Wehonest and very pleased with them. I think its where Kyteslights gets his from too, they look very similar, apart from the price.

Likewise here, great lamps at a decent price but I find the ladder a little overscale but is easy to replace.  Beware though, they are 6v so need wiring in pairs in series if you are going to run them on 12v.

As others have said, in spite of the nervousness about buying stuff on the ebay from China, I have bought lights and signals from wehonest without problems.

cheers for the replies everyone!

I hope Bachmann will make some yard lights soon as they do in OO

I think maybe replacing the ladders is the option i'll take for now

I should think some accurate yard lamps will be produced in n gauge soon

cheers
