Out of interest I thought I'd have a go at designing a fully interlocked lever frame using the free software on Modratec's website, it seems that if I went down that route I'd need a 54 lever frame, just for a double track main line with 2 loops, a goods yard and loco shed lead off! This is after I'd pared it down so that there was only one exit signal from the goods yard and after I'd taken out some of the duplicated shunt moves! Worked out at around £350 for a fully interlocked frame, and that's not even accounting for the scenic fiddle yard, which would need another separate frame of around 25 levers!!
Interlocking and route setting would be awesome, as would getting my semaphores working, but it just looks so damned complicated! Think I'll just carry on the way I've been building and have nothing interlocked, and just take my time setting routes!
Has anybody used the Modratec frame with interlocking? It would be awesome but I'm pretty sure it's not compatible with Peco point motors anyway.

Not tried the interlocking lever frame but my next layout will use the basic lever frame. It seems like a nice piece of kit and not as hard to assemble as I first thought. The six lever starter kit works out about the same as buying six points and switches.
Of course I haven't yet tried connecting the levers to the points, I'll let you know how I get on.
