Title: Trans Pennine carriages.
Post by: simonprelude on November 10, 2014, 11:27:46 AM
Could anyone spare some advice on the best way to create some trans pennine carriages. I've looked at the regional railways stock and wondered if these could be modified easily to be trans pennine. I'm by sure how much of the livery is similar as my memory isn't that good. Anyone any ideas, or even if any overlays exist?

I was going to say Electra Railway Graphics but I think that's one of the liveries they don't do - may be worth an enquiry though...

Correction: They do do overlays in TP livery for Mark 2a/b/c coaches...

Yes, Electra do vinyls for them. Ultima do roof vents, BR Lines do interiors and you can modify the underframes yourself to get rid of the air con bits and bobs.

Ahh, proper trains!! :)

The TransPennine sets consisted of 5x Mk2a TSO, 1 FK and a Mk1 Full Brake. Most Mk2s were the 2a variety, though some bs and cs were also used. I can do the vinyls for these coaches either individually or as a complete rake.

Thanks for your help so far, looking forward to these being ready. What are the best stock to use as donors? Latest farish I'm assuming?

If you can get hold of the more recent Farish Mk2s, they are the best to use as donors, as the print comes off easily with Brasso and they have blackened wheels. Look for the most recent blue/grey or FGW Green examples.
