Some time, over the next few weeks, I will be moving (again).
I will be trying to keep up with N-Train emails etc during this time, but there will be a few inevitable delays.
We are about to move into a three bedroom house, about 2 miles from where we currently live.
This move is bought about because we have a teenage autistic granddaughter, who we need to help with behaviour problems. Albeit on a part time basis. My daughter, and son in law, have to deal with her seven days a week and also have a younger son, who needs some of their time also.
Unfortunately, the child support services, tried to help, by letting her stay in a special needs home, part time. However, after she settled in, her normal behaviour emerged and they said they couldn't cope, so she is back home full time. My wife and I have decided to take step, so we can help relieve the pressure by taking her on board occasionally. (I am getting too old to do it all the time)

Good luck with the move Bob and well done for stepping up to the plate in such a practical way. I know we will all do everything we can to help our kids and grandkids - no matter how much we joke about building moats when the kids move out to stop them coming back and taking away our train room. Both my sons have spent extended time back at home after getting their homes and getting into financial difficulties through no fault of their own (Divorce and redundancy).
Dealing with people with autism can be challenging and I hope that you and your wife find the experience rewarding and not too overwhelming. I am sure your daughter and son-in-law as well as your grandson will appreciate the opportunity for a short period of 'normal' family life your interventions will bestow on them.

Our thoughts are with you so good luck with the move, I have an Autistic Grandson and know just how hard it can be, your Daughter and Son in Law will treasure a little bit of relief.

In all seriousness, good luck with the move NTrain. Sounds to me like something you can be proud of. As for not having time for the layout, well, that's the beauty of this hobby isn't it? You fit in what you can, when you can. You might be able to cobble together something small (shelf layout) which you only need spend and hour or two a week on. Perhaps you could get into fettling locos like me, which can take as little, or as much time, as you like. They can also be packed away (including in pieces) and brought out another day for re-assembly.
I'm sure you'll find five minutes to enjoy your trains, even if only on a test loop. Sounds like you deserve to :laugh2:

When she was little, she was brilliant with the trains.
We built her a little layout with it's own station. Nothing special, it had a painted road and painted grass.
She had a lot of speech problems in those days, and had to use a combination of sounds and sign language.
She would send the train round, at reasonable speeds, none of this full blast and try to get the train to fly off at the corners. She managed to stop the train correctly at the platform, and when asked when the train was due to go, she let us know that the passengers needed time to get off and on before it could go............
Unfortunately, as she grew older, behaviour problems started, so she could no longer be trusted.
As for me, I spend a lot of time on my trust laptop, designing N Gauge models and components..................
It will be good to have space to test things properly, and develop items I currently do not have space for.
Our move should be sometime in the next 2 weeks.

Bad timing there N'train means you will miss the Spalding show that is on that weekend. Or are you going to manage to get some time off.
I have still got to work that weekend as well.
Got the Friday and Monday off, but others have already booked the weekend, so I can't. :(
Never mind, I do end up with more modelling space. :)
