Title: Graham Farish Class 55 Couplings
Post by: georgehgv on October 28, 2014, 11:02:05 AM
Bought a new Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, which arrived with one coupling lying in box and the other limply fitted which has since fallen out.

I have some spares from Farish 379-401 are these the right ones?

I cannot get them to stay in place, looking at the bogie there appears to be two small plastic projections at the top and a sort of slot beneath, is this where they fit, as I said I cannot get these to stay put ????

Help please? Thanks.

They are NEM couplings and are quite a tight fit, try pushing in on one side - should click in, then push in other side and again should click.
The slot is where the coupling should be fitted.

Hope this helps
Tony

Thanks for the reply but it seems there is a small plastic clip possibly the actual pocket that has also come off, so there is nothing to retain the coupling.  ???

You are right there is a pocket inside the coupling, but they are difficult to get out (I've tried), and the 2 small plastic projections are part of the inner pocket.  Here is a link   http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?topic=19829.msg202805#msg202805 (http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?topic=19829.msg202805#msg202805)    to an easi couple conversion, which also converts to NEM and in the 5th picture down showing the underside of the wagon, the small circular projection at the back of the triangular cut out is part of the inner coupling pocket.

Hope this helps
Tony

Bachmann replied today and said

"We will send you a couple of the out to you in the next few days"

Not sure what that means but look forward to any help offered.

Well Graham Farish guys have sent me two new couplings complete with pockets, thanks.

Can now see where the problem lies in as much as the two prongs on the pockets fit into the two slots on the bogie frame, the trouble now is I am too clumsy to get them to connect, is there anyone local who would be willing to help me with this please?

Live in the Wokingham/Reading area of Berkshire.

Thanks.

I would like to publicly thank Pete for spending time on Saturday in sorting out and replacing the coupling pockets of my Class 55, it was a kind offer to help which was gratefully received. Thank you again Pete. George
