Friend took this from the top of the hill over Aberystwyth. I'm trying to persuade him he should get into the backscene business having seen it !

Be warned it's a very big image even though its squashed down from a full one (20342x1044 pixels)
The part at the right hand side, where the foreground is in focus and the background is faded due to distance, is excellent as a backdrop as it will give a great depth of field to a layout
cheers John.
That's really nice Alan!
What equipment was used to produce this?
Is it photo-stitched?
Thanks
Michael

Can I order that picture twentyeight ft long 9inches to a foot high.
Bob
If slightly reduced so that it is 210mm high it would be 4020mm (13'+) long, which would take over 4 sheets of my banner paper!
The sea at the left hand end might be difficult to blend in, probably need some low relief beach huts or dockside buildings, otherwise lose some of it
For 28' long it would need to be around 18 - 20 inches high; alternatively it should be possible to do a horizontal flip and print original and mirror image, that should be close to 28'.
Lovely photo.
I'd have one BUT, the windfarm will have to go :uneasy:

Its just before the halfway point from the left.

The image full size is about 350mm x 6750mm which in real money is 13.77" x 22'+
That would probably need a print shop, not used one so don't know what the cost would be. The largest for a home or office printer would be an A3 printer that will take banner sheets 297x1200, or paper rolls.
My own OKI colour laser is an older A4 so the max I can print is 210x1200, to get a higher 300mm backscene I cut the sky off the landscape sheets, printed separate sky sheets and stuck the landscapes onto the sky sheets, result as seen here

The windfarm would be easy to get rid of using a clone tool.
Link (http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?topic=1375.msg121372#msg121372) to posts by Lawrence where he got a backscene image printed onto PVC banner paper (which was cheaper)
That is a lovely pic. It would make a great back scene. I do sometimes think though that the best back scene is just blue sky. Keeps attention on the model.
The late great Cyril Freezer reckoned the best backdrop for a locomotive was a retaining wall!
Nice, very nice :) Shame it's too modern for me.
I'd remove the wind farm too, and also the black blob on the left in the field by the sea ...
There's always something, isn't there ::)
