Friends,
I do not know what sort of drive unit the HST 125 has but I am thinking along the lines of a 2nd. hand body and then fitting a "new" power bogie(s) instead of chancing my arm with an Ebay purchase with a doubtful history!
Does anyone know of suppliers of such items?
I have checked through "Peters Spares", "AC Models Eastleigh" and some dubious suppliers on Ebay.
Peter,
There are two types of drive chassis on the Poole Farish HST - one with a single motorised drive bogie, and a later version with a centrally mounted motor driving both bogies.
You won't be able to buy either these days new - they are just too old and there are no stocks of such things out there. However, both type of chassis can be generally rebuilt and overhauled if you buy a secondhand one that's not running perfectly. Generic spares are sill available (gears, armatures etc).
The other option for the HST of course is the newer Dapol model - you should be able to get powered chassis for that from DCC supplies, if it's only the chassis you are after.
Best,
Alan

Peter, i purchased a power bogey off dr al on his ebay guise about a year ago for a project that has never been reached and its just sat in my motor box since then.. I paid over £30 plus postage for it, i can dig it out if you need a power bogey and its yours for £25 inc postage.
I like that idea VERY much!
I would like to accept your offer but......
Firstly I would need the money which will not be available until after the 12th. October (Private Pension monthly pay) and then there is the body which might be available on Ebay, somewhere.
The reason for asking is that I was given 3 coaches for the HST for Christmas and I think it would look better with the proper loco traction, especially for the gift giver.
BTW, Dr. Al has an Ebay persona, please give details?
Warmest regards Peter.

Alan,
Many thanks for enlightening me, really appreciated.
I assume that the single power bogie drive would be sufficient for a 3 coach rake?
Warmest regards, Peter.
