Hi Bob,  my upgrade went OK, but then again, I don't use it to upload pictures to the forum. They tend to be too big. I use my laptop to resize them first.

I've never been successful at up loading pics from my iPad either and thus use my Laptop.  Which is actually where I store the majority of my pics anyway..

Bob

An error 500 on the browser would be an issue with the website, not with the OS. So far I've not hit any issues on the forum with iOS 8 but it's possible something in the forum software is having problems because it doesn't know about the new browser version or it was just a case of a bad internet connection/server issue.

Always back up before an update (via iTunes to your Mac/PC ideally ) and with photos it's worth downloading and storing them on your computer too.

Bob. Both your albums appear to be there but there's a 'new photo' listed in the railcar album that appears to be broken as it won't view. Looks like it just failed to upload properly.

Hi all,
It's fine on my phone, but IPad says it hasn't got enough space.  I've cleared out a load of photos and there's plenty of room now, but I don't think I'll bother with IOS8 until someone has something positive to say about it?

Pete @ EGLM

PS predictive texting on phone is much better.

This article (http://www.trustedreviews.com/opinions/ios-8-download) gives an opinion on whether you should upgrade depending on your device.

I generally wait for a month or so before updating. If the update is buggy, then another update follows

The old adage was never take even numbered releases.  Odd number releases have the bug fixes for the evens...

You'd better avoid OS.62 then. Could spoil a good year.  ;)

Bob,

If you are near an Apple store (list of stores (http://www.apple.com/uk/retail/storelist/)) you could take the iPad in an explain the issue with the upgrade. Might be best to phone first if you are travelling far

or you could contact Apple Support (http://www.apple.com/uk/support/contact/). If they cannot sort out your issue quickly then you may have to pay

There is also some on-line help for iPads (link (http://www.apple.com/uk/support/ipad/))

In theory Bob, if the upgrade isn't suitable, it won't be offered. My wife's iPad is a first issue with no camera and has stopped at OS5. Maybe it didn't install correctly.

Please be very careful before you go this route, it's easy to get it wrong and end up with a none working iPad/iPhone or loss of data.

Apple are not recommending downgrade, but some 'fan' sites are. Apple are recommending you wait a week or two while they rush out a patch. If you haven't installed IOS8 yet I'd suggest you don't until things have stabilised.

By the way the article linked to says that previous versions are disabled within days. This is rubbish, one of my Pads is still running IOS6. I can't update software on it, but it runs just fine.

Cheers
Dave

I think what they mean is that the ability to revert to a previous version is disabled rather than any device using an older version of IOS is disabled. I am still running 5.1.1 on an iPad and all is well

I would like to say a big :thankyousign: to all the forum team who have helped me over my inability to understand  the    in my opinion complicated technology  called an IPad  .joining this forum has been such a help to me in lots of ways .
It has given me the opertunity to talk to new friends all over the world with the same hobby as me and I hope I've helped a few people with my limited knowledge of model railways :NGaugersRule:

My ipad is playing up since putting on 8 but I will not go backwards with an update, I am thinking they will surely come out with a new update, all my web pages do not flow properly since the update, there always seems to be lag when scrolling, so mad they put this update out before a full test.

I had to upgrade my development iPad to IOS8 and suffered all sorts of 'broken internet' problems. I fixed them by:

Settings -> Privacy -> Location Services -> System Services and turn off WiFi Networking (this service provides Apple with details of your local network - it does not impact your ability to access the Internet).

Next I disconnected my WiFi connection and reconnected. Bingo! all problems gone.

It's worth a try (and you can always turn it back on if it doesn't solve your problem).

Cheers

Great, I'm pleased it sorted the problem.

Can't claim the credit, I read it on the web somewhere (on my trusty Windows PC). :)

Ios 8.0.2 on IPad

airplane mode won't work

Editing in a box ( ie on NGF Modify button) doesn't work

Everything seems to have gone Apple-shaped!

Iphone 5 seems ok

Big Mac won't access iCloud data ( without Yosemite upgrade - not due till Mid October!!)

I couldn't get to Apple shop on Sat so my IPads still stuck on Ios8 My family are thinking of  scrapping it and getting a Laptop instead at least if you update and have problems you can then back date plus it's  easier to connect to other devices Well Done Apple How to loose customers and cause trouble at that they must be NUMBER 1 They might be too late fixing the problem if we all ditch our IPads  I will never recomend Apple to anyone.
