Back in my youth (WAY back !) I spent my teenage years as an avid AFV modelling enthusiast , after a visit to the tank museum at Bovington . Although that period of modelling is now long gone for me , from time to time I still pick up an AFV modelling magazine in WH Smiths for a browse . Last week that purchase was the September issue of Scale Military Modeller International . In the review section I found a couple of items from a UK company called Airbrush Heaven which certainly struck me & which others may well find interesting .
Firstly , a starter kit of a compressor + 2 airbrushes (1 for general work , 1 for fine stuff) + some other bits for £63.99 , free UK delivery . Secondly , a portable extractor/filter spray booth for £64.99 , free UK delivery . Both items receive glowing reviews in that magazine - airbrush reviewer said he was "incredibly impressed" , both items are described as outstanding value for money .
My position ? Have resisted the lure of the airbrush.....until now !! Ordered this airbrush kit (you have to order online , though there is a phone number for enquiries) BUT the spray booth has temporarily sold out due to heavy demand , more expected later this month . Altogether , there are 9 (I think) different types of airbrush/compressor combination kits , this is the cheapest . There is a comprehensive video review of the spraybooth online (by the guy who did the written mag review) at www.sampublications.com (http://www.sampublications.com) , go to the SAMl portal , news video reviews I think . In the mag it states that there is also an onlive video review of the airbrush - but I couldn't find it ! Finally - don't expect any instant reviews from me though - I've several layout issues on the go at the moment , plus I'm going to wait for the spray booth to come back in stock before I use the thing properly ! Nothing changes !! Best wishes to one & all , Ric

Ordered the kit from Airbrush Heaven , was dispatched immediately but I was away for a couple of days , so only got round to collecting it from local post office yesterday & opening it up ! What you get is in the photo above , all packed up very securely in moulded polystyrene (two halves) & heavyweight cardboard box.

So .....dinky little compressor , two different airbrushes & various bits , pieces & flexible screw hose thingies (technical term) . All I've got to figure out now is how it all fits together & how it works . I think that I'll be giving Pengi's airbrush thread a bit of a bashing over the next few weeks ! Portable spray booth from same people is on order , waiting for new supplies to come in . Cheers ,Ric
Lots of play time there Ric :claphappy:
Get yourself some cardboard to practice your spraying, all good fun
cheers John.
Looks like you got a bargain. All we need now is to see some results. :D
