What is the general consensus regarding the old Lima CCTs? Are they to the correct scale? Are they even a correct model of a prototype.
To my mind, the bodies look ok, but the chassis looks a bit over scale? If so, is there a fix anyone knows of?
They are pretty decent models. I swapped the wheels on mine (drilled the holes a bit deeper and fitted modern axles) which makes a big difference.
Bachmann are supposed to be releasing one to modern standards.

You are spot on, the body is fine chassis is not. I scratchbuilt my own chassis for the one I have using plasticard and parts from the 2mm Scale Association.

Probably the best thing Lima did for UK n-gauge...
The chassis is a bit crude compared to the latest standards but was decent for its time, and the body is very close to scale, unlike their 1:160 mk1s and approx 1:142 wagons!

Did exactly the same tom mine Alan - used new Graham Farish wheels. It makes a big difference to the appearance of the Lima CCTs. Personally I like them and have a rake of TARTAN ARROW ones plus matching bogie container wagons that I made (you can see what I did on my HOLLERTON JUNCTION thread below).
Farish should release their new version of the CCT in due course which I am sure will be a lovely model with no doubt a price to match. :)

Many thanks everyone. I have some which I've re-wheeled with farish items, and they do look better.
I'll go to town on weathering and grubby them up good and proper to hide the chassis as best as I can.

Hope it's alright to resurrect this thread - I tried looking to see if there was anything that i) already deals with the query below or ii) is more recent. This seemed to be the closest thread...
Please can I ask: Does anyone have any tips for removing the body from the chassis for these CCTs? e.g. where to apply pressure in order to separate.
I have a few vans, but their weights vary and I reckon that I'd like to get in to tackle the inconsistency.
