Anyone got any experience if these?
Set one up? I'm a newbie, don't scare me already! :D
Do you mean power/transformer + CDU?
I shall explore the alternatives of transformer, CDU + switches further. Thanks for the help. ;)
I should add that the layout that I am seeking to build has 15 sets of points. Some of them can be put in a set as. I will want them to work at the same time, but I will struggle to meet the 6 sets required. I have seen a DCC CDU that will accommodate 8 sets of points but that is the largest number that I have seen that will work off a single CDU - I would be grateful if anyone knows of a higher number....

Capacitor discharge unit to flip seep point motors
Well any manufacturer's solenoid point motors, not just Seep....
Cheers,
Alan
You can run as many points as you like off a single CDU, but you can't fire them all at the same time. I had a couple of routes that had 2 points that operated as a run around loop. I fired both at the same time with no problems. I would hesitate to guess how many simultaneous switches you could fire. Anyone any ideas?

I think the blurb.......'' says up to six points at a time''
Thanks guys - extremely helpful.
I will take due note of what you say.
This is my first time in N gauge and I have started laying out the track. I was surprised by two things - there are no holes for the pins in the Peco 55 track. As my previous was with OO, I was a bit surprised. Do I have to drill them? I am using flexi-track and it is springer that I expected so will need to be held down firmly - the joys of surprises. :D
The second thing was that the Peco N gauge points have the hole for the point's driving pole on either side of the track and not in the middle. It is not a problem but I hadn't expected that. Still it keeps me off the streets..... :-[
I feel a bit of a twit as it has been stated in the book that I read and it simply didn't register. Time to acquire a mini drill.....
The misunderstanding about the position of the rod in the points motor was because most photos are of OO Layouts, not N Gauge. I have since noticed that all the photos of N gauge show them located at the side. I need to be more careful and more observant. :-[
I am looking at the DCC Concepts CDU as it manages 8 points (allegedly)

Hi
Also be aware that there is a wrong way and a right way to curve code 55 track. There are arrows on the underside which should point to the outside of the curve and also the sleepers have more gaps in the webbing which should be on the outside of the curve. There are also indentations on the underside for drilling for track pins.
Cheers
Paul
Good point Paul. I didn't find out about the arrows until after I had wrestled one piece into shape. Some advice on one of the threads pointed me in the right direction and the rest went fine.
Many thanks! I was unaware of that and it will explain a few problems yesterday. Fortunately I have a straight Tracksetta and that will allow me to re-do some that I suspect that I got wrong by not knowing. :-[
