Title: Rik Mayall R.I.P.
Post by: Rob H on June 09, 2014, 06:18:04 PM
It has been reported that Rik Mayall has passed away at the age of 56.

I grew up with The Young Ones, Bottom, The New Statesman and for me his greatest role, Flashheart in Blackadder.

Too young, too early, R.I.P.

Rob.

Just seen it on the news, Rob. Very sad for someone still a 'Young One' :(
Always loved his anarchic humour, and fell about laughing at the Dangerous Brothers.

A very very sad loss... I saw him and Ade Edmundson at the Colston Hall in Bristol doing 'Bottom Live' - It was the funniest thing i'd ever seen.

Can't think of a better tribute than that.

Was shocked to hear this, no age at all to go. Wonder if his quad bike accident had any influence on his untimely death? Guess we may find out in the coming days.

Another brilliant comic talent gone  :(

RIP Rik

Paul

This was a shock, a large chunk of the comedy I grew up with was Rik

his best role?

Colin the bassist in Bad News, sheer genius.

An update on this thread:

It appears Rik suffered "an acute cardiac event" after returning from his morning run.

In all the sombreness, and in typical style, Ade Edmondson paid this hilarious tribute:-

"Edmondson, who also appeared with Mayall in Bottom and a stage production of Waiting For Godot, recalled their "carefree, stupid" partnership.

"There were times when Rik and I were writing together when we almost died laughing," he said.

"And now he's died for real. Without me. Selfish :censored: "
(think fatherless child ;) )
