There are no N gauge 08's that are DCC ready, they all have to be hard wired. Unless you are confident with fitting a hard wired chip yourself, expect to pay around £100 for one fitted. Ponder the cost of an 08 + Chip + fitting.

Have a look here, http://www.wicknessmodels.co.uk/ (http://www.wicknessmodels.co.uk/) for an idea of cost of getting your loco converted, along with the cost of chips.

I've had locos converted from here and he does a very neat job.

The other thing to ponder is if you do a conversion then your Farish guarantee goes out the window. That's the reason I bought one already converted and tested.

This thread may help you. http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?topic=1192.0 (http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?topic=1192.0)

I fitted a decoder to a 08 shunter, it was quite easy and you will find info on this thread on page 2 how I did it.
